uniform one time in Detroit, circa 1973. I read recently in Mojo
that he has a closet full of 'em.

Hi Matthew
I bought vol.2. That is great!! I like most of them, especially I like Wylde Mammoths.
I want to find their LP or CD but it is out of order now.
I like Swedish '60s. I like Toges(best!!) Namelosers,Deejeys etc.

Paraphrasing a not too long ago interview with Mr. Pop (maybe on PBS R&R
docu.?) in which he responded to that whole nazi dressup business: guys
in rock 'n' roll thought it was "kind of a cool look". And indeed many
bands availed themselves to a touch of the Geheim Staats Polizei regalia
to affect a sort of outlaw panache (the Stones, Motorhead, Dead Boys,
Sex Pistols, god only knows...). Somewhere in the early 80's the
consensus changed - swastikas were no longer cool or appropriate unless
you were in some sort of outfit that considered mindless thuggery cool
and appropriate. It would be a matter worthy of concern and the most
active forms of execration if a Supreme Court Judge sported an armband
and an SS cap at some point during his career (or rolled around in
peanut butter and broken glass, or crooned to his schwanz as though it
were a microphone)Topical sentiment posing as clarity of judgement will
always be more offensive for the right reasons than some heroin-fueled
yob with a guitar in a kraut suit jumping around before the society of
his equals like a hypnotized chicken.

OK, OK, since others have opened this can of worms, I can pitch in too. =
I agree with Mr. Waugh that the combination of punks and Nazi costumes =
is to be taken with a large dose of salt. I've always thought that some =
of the punks adopted Nazi symbolism partly as a reaction to the enforced =
"niceness" of the 60s, and that that "yob with a guitar in a Kraut suit" =
was obviously too stupid to have political opinions of any kind.

I do have some questions though:
(1) Is there truth to the story that the Sex Pistols used to have to =
fight fascist skinheads back in the 70s?
(2) In one of his articles from the late 70s, Lester Bangs mentioned a =
picture in Punk magazine that showed none other than Miriam Linna, =
former member of the Cramps and A-Bones and co-founder of Norton records =
(one of my favorite labels) and Kicks magazine, posing in front of White =
People's Party headquarters with a banner that said "God, Country, =
Race." Does anyone on this list possess that issue of Punk? Has anyone =
even seen that picture?
(3) In light of item (2), has anyone else noticed that Kicks magazine, =
great as it is, and despite its professed love, or magnificent =
obsession, with pre-British Invasion American rock'n'roll, seems to be =
almost devoid of anything regarding black rock'n'rollers of that era, =
except for those, such as Chuck, Bo and Esquerita, who simply cannot be =
ignored? Have I hit on something here, or am I totally off base?

To the fellow who wanted to know about Sonics CDs, here is an e mail =
address for Etiquette Records I recently obtained on the net: =
