Yeah, hearing John do Little Red Riding Hood (w/ Andy Shernoff of
The Dictators on bass, in case some didn't notice) was really great.

As to the Lowdowns record... I got that on Miriam's
recommendation back when it came out. A bunch of us were out one night
and I told her I was going record shopping the next day and was there
anything I definitely *had* to pick up. She told me to get the Lowdowns
LP. I did. Well, the first time through it did nothing for me. I
pulled it out again about a year later. And was blown away. Especially
by "Nowadaze Kids", a sort of outline musical autobiography/statement of
purpose by John.

Oh yeah, I believe The Devotions (John's current outfit) are
doing one of the tracks from the Lowdowns record in their live set. I
just don't remember which one.

I think the vol1&2 of Diggin' for gold are out of order now.
But the precious songs in them,Summer sun by Beathovenz and Sunside world by Sound ltd set
can listen the swedish CD [Stora Popboxen 7243 4 75157 2 9 EMI Svenska]
 from original master tape!
The CD is 3 cd box of swedish '60s. Though some of them are just a pop song, but
you can listen many beat treasure in it.(Shanes Tages Mascots Namelosers....)
with 47pages booklet .I can't read swedish, but enjoy the pix in it.

love the tougher and less polished side of sixties beat I recommend you buy
this one before investigating the Diggin' For Gold comps.

I agree with you. And I like both.

I was listening to that Joe Meek comp last night and marvelling at the Riot
Squad and their sound... the liner notes talked about Mitch Mitchell (ex-
Jimi Hendrix- current Irish bar owner) and Jon Lord (deep Purple)
involvement with the band...
anyone know anything else about these brit psyche-rockers? is their a
comp of just their material, how many singles they put out, etc?

On the subject of werid, new compilations, does anyone have any of
those "Pre-Kraut Pandemonium" comps. of German garage/psych/beat from
the '60s? We have 5,7 & 6. They're all pretty good. Both 5 & 6 have
live, unreleased Monks tunes, and 5 also has a Five Torquays (MOnks
first name) song on it. The same label also put out a strange 7" comp
called "Schnappls," which has some of the craziest sounding
garage-psych on it I've ever heard!

Yes, there's an album on Bam Caruso called "Anytime" which has all their
singles (most of them dire, IMO) and the full story of the band. Came out
around 1989, doubtless out of print now.

I have 3,4,5,6,of Prae Kraut Pandaemonium. I didn't buy 7,that is something mond
and strange for me.
3&4 are good. 4 is moody with little psychedelic taste.
5&6 are so so.But ofcause the all tune of Monks are killer!

Today I accessed the Hope Page of Monks. This is great with audio and video!

Why isn't the official video of Beat club(german '60s TV program) release?
In Japan, some years ago,the LD and video from Beat club was released.
But I t doesn't includeany german gruop, it contained only british famouse band.
I want to watch monks, boots, etc in good condition.
