Well, interestingly enough, I finally met Haunted guitarist/leader Jurgen
Peter right here in Vancouver where he lives.

As I had written the liner notes to those Voxx lps, we thought we should
finally get together. He came over one night to where I work as I was
designing some cd cover or other and he was a really nice guy, played me all
sorts of stuff he's been recording on 8 track at home and it all sounds
exactly like his old Haunted stuff, told me he has live tapes from the old
days and all sorts of stories about meeting Jimi Hendrix and stuff.

Very fascinating and, in hindsight, a drag that the guy I had done the
interview with for the Haunted re-issues (their first singer) had not turned
me on to where Jurgen was at that time as Mr. Peter is definately the man,
however, being a nice guy has cost him dearly as he does not see any money
from any of these re-issues since the ownership is very cloudy. Greg, I hope
this stuff is all sorted out, as it is a drag to hear this from these people.

The worst rip-offs were the foreign releases of 1-2-5 that he never knew
about. He had asked a friend to write foreign labels and send them tapes of
the single to see if there was any interest. Turns out the guy licensed it
all over the world, pocketed all the advances and never told anybody.

He was found out last year when he sold a South African 45 of 1-2-5 to a
Vancouver collector who then asked Jurgen to sign it. Needless to say, Jurgen
flipped!!

It was an incredible 4 hours of conversation (I wished I had a tape recorder)
and we were supposed to get together again, but I haven't heard from him
since. I almost got him to come out and see my band as I was also playing
with Lauren Agnelli and Dave Rave at the time, and we had been talking
amongst ourselves about some of the old 60s bar band techniques and styles of
playing, especially the 60s approach to lead guitar prior to the psychedelic
guitar wanks, and we figured Jurgen probably had a lot of secrets and
forgotten lore to pass on, which he does, but he couldn't make it down.

One tidbit was that the first thing you did when you bought an amp, was to
immediately buy chicken wire to cover it up so it would survive flying beer
bottles and stuff.

The Haunted also were on TV every weekend for Channel 7 in Sherbrooke,
Quebec, for some kids show, and apparently bootleg videos of these appearnces
exist.

The Haunted were the only English Montreal rock band to appeal to both
English and French audiences. Jurgen ended up marrying the Haunted Fan Club
president and their daughter is currently a model.

So there you go. Print this out and slip it inside the plastic covering the
Haunted lp as an addendum to my original liner notes.
