Hi, folks. I was out of town last week, so I didn't get a chance
to chime in on the Monks thread, but I was wondering if anyone has
checked out the book (autobiography?) written about the Monks. I
think it's about 400 pages, and I'm wondering whether anything
that long about such a short career is readable.

        Hitomi sez...

Did yo buy the CD"GS I LOVE YOU.Japanese garage bands of the '60s"?
from Big Beat?
It is compiled and resarched by Alec Palao!(you know he wrote the article of
Art collection on Cream Puff War) His liner about GS is best as written in
English.

Yes! I just found this CD yesterday, and it is excellent! I'd never
heard the early recordings of the Spiders before, so that was a real
        treat.

In fact, I am working right now on licensing some Japanese GS recordings
for re-release in the United States.

I can't write you now, because I don't know your E-mail number.
please tell me it.or watashi ni E-mail o kudasi. number ha hitomi@kiwi.co.jp
desu .

Sugu anata ni email o shimasu! Doomo!

Steve - Thanks for the cool recaps of the Creation and John's Children
reunion gigs! If only those bands would consider coming to this side of
        the Atlantic...

Chritian music is not all gospel gay crap like amy grant they have heavy
bands like Sometime Sunday -which sound like pearl jam - alice and chains -
sound garde but have meaning to the words and sounds better then alot of the
bands that are on mtv and mtv wont play any of it because it has something to
do with God in there lerics if you heard of Jars of Clay there Chritians but
there sond "flood" you cant tell there talking about God thats why they play
that video on mtv but not others there's a lot of Chritian
punk-thrash-metal-garage-ska-jazz-
alternive bands and they wont give them a chance like bleander head- the
blamed- focused -supertones- the crucified- plank eye - black eyed sceva and
alot more just try to find them in your local stores they might not be there
for that reason but if you ever get a chance to listen to one of them go for
it cause it's just as good maybe not better

Out of curiosity could you, uh, name some of these Christian garage and punk
bands you're talking about? I know of none except NAILS from Vanderhoof BC
who, when they played with the Hi-Fives and the Evaporators in Prince George
BC, stuck up a giant paper mache Jesus on a cross which bled tomato sauce in
their last song. After the show was over the drummer had to look after the 10
foot Jesus but had no way of getting him home cuz the rest of NAILS took off
to a party. He eventually strapped Jesus to the roof of his buddy's Honda
Civic. Then it started to rain and Jesus started melting glue, paint and
ketchup all over the car. It was a holy mess and the guy who owned the car
freaked out and Jesus ended up in a wet gooey pile by the side of the road.
Do other Christian bands have to go through this kind of godawful shit?

Highly recommended. The book looks into the lives of ex-GI's in Germany playing a brand of music that was the
farthest thing from conventional pop of the time. Rather some autobiographical ranting about the loss of innocence
the author details the Hamburg night life and the responses five guy's in black with shaved heads received
through out Europe. Uncompromising and fun.
