Hey, Steve, thanks for the Cannibals info! I'll take that "Good Guys"
single if it's still there! It's the only one I don't have!!

The 13th Floor Elevators did appear on that Austin teen show, playing
(minimg. actually) "Miss Me" in front of a pool and being introduced
with "What floor are we on now? The 13th floor!" (something like that).
We have it on tape, and it's way cool. Anyone seen the Elevators on
"American Bandstand" when Dick Clark asked Roky who was the head of the
band, Roky replied "We're ALL heads!"

When I lived back east, I found out that in Kingston, Ontario there had
been a club in the '60s called the Magic Mushroom, and the haunted and
the Ugly Ducklings played there (Kingston is on "the circuit" between
Toronto and Montreal). CKWS TV had a teen dance show in the '60s also,
and both bands appeared on it. I tried to locate tape copies of this,
but the person at CKWS told me they didn't have the equipment to tape
bands then (the show was live), and so these performances are lots to
time. Oddly enoughm, Kingston also had it's own garage combo, a band
called The ND who put out a single of "Psychotic Reaction" backed with
"Midnight Hour." I've never seen nor heard this, just heard about it,
but they apparently did another single afterwards, and their picture
was up in a restauraunt in Kingston. They looked like the Sonics!

Ron Dante was also in the Detergents, who scored a novelty hit with "Leader
of the Laundromat."

They had an LP which had photos of theh band inside washing machines on the
cover. My friend picked up a beat up copy at a record swap for a buck.

The previous owner had written "Ronnie Dante is Archie Andrews" around Ron's
wahing machine. The LP featured more parodies. I remember a James Bond one as
being kinda funny.
