What was Aurthur Lee sentenced for?

I guess for wrecklessly shooting his gun.

  Ventures' Drummer Mel Taylor Dies

I'm very sad to hear this. Ironically, I was playing a Ventures CD
for a friend of mine on Sunday, the day he passed away.

I saw the Ventures live in 1989 at a punk club, and they rocked out
for two hours straight without a break. In front of me were a
couple of poseurs dressed in black, who stood like stone for the
first twenty minutes or so, before leaving the room. I passed them
in the lobby later on, and overheard one of them say disgustedly to
the other, "I didn't think they'd be like THIS." *sigh* Some people
        just don't "get" it.

It was a truly excellent show - the Ventures played not one, not
two, but THREE versions of "Walk - Don't Run" (the 1960
arrangement, the 1964 arrangement, and a third version as part of
the "Stars on Guitars" medley). After the show, they came into the
audience to sign autographs, which I still have (along with a
couple of guitar picks with Ventures logos printed on them).

Hello you all! I was curious: where did that website get the Monks video
footage?

On Sat., Aug. 17 Freddy "Boom Boom" Cannon is playing Maxwells in Hoboken (a
15-minute train ride from midtown NYC) backed by ex-members of the A-Bones
and the Raunch Hands. Tix are kinda expensive ($15) but it's gonna be a total
blast.

As for cool record and guitar stores, try Midnite Records (23rd St. bet. 7
and 8 Ave.) and Mojo Guitars (St. Marks Place bet. Aves. 1 and A). If you
have any further questions, feel free to e-mail me.
