Both MCA (US) and Big Beat (UK) have SAC compilations. I know that MCA has been re-issuing stuff for the past
dozen years in various forms and quality. I see the MCA compilation on CD around quite a bit at the major retail
outlets.

yeah, hi, i've just been through my plastic fantastic and found the
following: if anyone wants any (or all - maybe this would be good what with
postal charges etc) then i'd prefer to trade than to sell: at the moment i'm
looking for psychy stuff (it's either the heat or love), esp. nick riff,
tyrnaround, mooseheart faith (magic square of the sun), terry brooks (but
not the metally stuff), that kinda thing, oh, and vinyl only. all the
following are as near to mint as makes no odds,

Litter - Rare Tracks (Eva 120123)

Sonics - Sinderella (Line LILP 4.00249) this gerry roslie and the invaders
from about 1980, being line, it's white vinyl

Various - Las Vegas Grind (Strip 001)

Various - If It Ain't A Hit I'll Eat My Baby (Zu-Zazz Z2009) as the subtitle
puts it 'the dirtiest of them dirty blues'

Suburban Studs - Slam (Pogo POW001) this one *isn't* in mint condition, but
not too bad: one or two surface scratches, one looks iffyish, but its okay:
the sleeve's fine; all in all, not too bad for 18 years of pooonk raaaaawck.
actually, i think i've mangaed to make it sound worse than it is. whatevr,
i'll shut up now

I have a copy of the "Incense & Peppermints" album, which I would be
happy to tape for you. I don't think it's very good, except for the
title track and a strange little ditty about a sadist called "Hummin'
     Happy."

If you're interested, please write me off-list at gsadin@mfi.com .

A few weeks ago, someone here was asking if Sundazed's Beau Brummels
box set, "San Fran Sessions," was any good. I bought it up the other
day, and think it's excellent. If you enjoy the first two Brummels
albums, you'll certainly enjoy this set. It contains alternate
versions of familiar tracks, unreleased solo and band demo recordings,
     and completely unreleased masters.

Incidentally, many of San Francisco's best bands of the '60s recorded
at the legendary Golden State Recorders, which is right across the
street from where I work! Since Leo de Gar Kulka closed shop (I
presume that he retired), the space has been occupied by another
legendary SF recording organization, Coast Recorders. A few years ago,
I was considering attending Leo's College For Recording Arts, located
at GS Recorders, and got to tour the studio. It was pretty nifty being
in the same room where "Laugh Laugh" and the Syndicate of Sound's
"Little Girl" was recorded! I also got to speak at length to Leo, who
told me quite a few interesting stories. He told me that he had
recently gone through his tape archives and found some things he did
with the Grateful Dead. I asked him if they recorded their first album
there, and he replied, "Oh no! This was way before then!"

As an FYI to those who thrive on the SF/teen sound, Big Beat released a couple of compilations under the "Nuggets
of the Golden State" moniker that contained detailed linear notes on Leo and Golden State Recorders as well as
some great tracks and unreleased stuff. Highly recommended for those swear by the Newcastle Five, E-Types
sound.

Subject: Windows95 burped my mail away...

I got my mail early this morning (6pm EDT or so) but while in the process of
downloading email tonite (6pm EDT) I had a windowburp (aka FAULT!) that
pooched my mailbox. So while it "made it" through the system and started
heading here, it vaporized before I had a chance to read it.

IOW, if you sent me anything between 6am-6pm EDT Monday 8/19, PLEASE RESEND.
For those of you on the Posies list, that's "Please Return It"! :)

And my apologies to Doug Powell - in my haste to praise his record in my last
"stuff I'm diggin'" post, I called him "Dennis"! (How's that for a lack of
respect!!) So please, when you run back to the store to buy this (and you
should!) be sure to ask for :

DOUG POWELL

Hello Music Machine fans, can anyone tell me if a Sundazed CD called "Beyond the Garage" is worth picking up?

Same question about the Collins Kids, "Rockin' on TV."

thanks
