The new Hoodoo Gurus is out now in Australia and is called _Blue Cave_, I'm
not sure of the label, it would be different probably in the US anyway. If
you like _The Right Time_ period Hoodoo Gurus then you will like it. They
always write goos material, but I just think that their best days are long
behind them, and I don't find the recent stuff garage-y at all.

Hi Caressa
I have a video almost same as yours.I bought it boot video shop Tokyo Japan.
It is named Nagett '60s compilation(the cover look like RHINO's cd)
This video include "Dirty Watyer"by standels instead of Munsters one.

But I have another video named "'60s garage punk" this includes Munsters ,
partial of Riot on sunset strip(Standels,Chocolate watch band).
and other stuff is same as Nagett video.

Is the Shadows of knight singing"Shake"? >their later hit
I want to see their early stuff, though I Don't know it is rest or not.

Someone asked whether there is a video compilation of 60's punk
band appearances on sit coms and cartoons. I've always dreamed of
such a comp, but to my knowledge nothing legitimate exists.
However, I do have a bootleg quality tape that contains the
Seed's (aka, the Warts) Mothers-in-Law appearance (which is
hilarious, not to mention my first childhood memory of garage
rock) and the Standells appearance on the Munsters, as well as
choice video nuggets from the Shadows of Knight, Chocolate
Watchband, 13th Floor Elevators, Electric Prunes, Castaways, Amboy
Dukes, Blue Cheer, the Nazz, Blues Magoos, Bad Seeds, Zakaray
Thaks, Leaves, and the MC5. I bought it years ago from a guy who
may possibly still be in business at this address. His name is
Mark Rosen (the business is called Vintage Videos) and his address
is (was?) 1 DuBois Road, New Paltz, New York 12561.

By the way, one appearance I haven't seen mentioned and I've
always wondered about was an episode of Get Smart which featured a
heavy psychedelic band called the Sacred Cows who engaged in
musical mind control. Does anyone know anything about these guys?

I believe the two episodes being talked about are actually thge same
episode. The "Groovy Guru" episode is the one with the Scared Cows. The
song "Kill! Kill! Kill!" was covered by canadian "sluge-a-billy" duo
Deja Voodoo on their first LP (OG recs) from 1985. Deja Voodo were
doing the lo-fi, two man, guitar and drums thing long before a lot of
*newer* bands (ie: Bassholes, not old blues bands), and in a totally
unique style, drawing on the blues, rockabilly, '60s and '70s punk.
They wrote great original tunes like "How Can I Miss You (If You Won't
Go Away), "Feed The Thing," "Monsters in my Garage," "Do the Lizard"
and lots more. They put out about six albums, a couple of EPs and a
tape, and appeared on all the volumes of "It Came From canada" series
(five total) that featured other cool canuck Combos like the Ten
Commandments, UIC, Supreme Bagg Team, House of Knives, Terminal
Sunglasses, the Stand (GT), Gruesomes, Calamity Janes (a combo I
briefly played in) and many more. I had the pleasure of seeing DV many
times, and they always delivered. They used to put on annual "OG BBQs"
every year in Montreal (one year they had 'em in Montreal, Kingston,
and Toronto!), were ther'd be like 10 bands in one night, playing
short, 20 min, sets and drummer Tony Dewald (of DV) cooking up gumbo,
hot dogs, burgers, or other BBQ style foods. Lotsa fun! If you ever see
any of these out of print DV LPs, by all means, buy it!!

Re: the Boys. Has anyone ever heard the Hollywood Brats? They were a
Swedish band that had two members that later went on to the Boys (they
moved to England). I only have one album by the, although they put out
two, both recorded in 1974/75, but not released until 1978. Very NY
Dolls/Stooges influenced. Two of the Boys members also produced albums
by the German band Die Toten Hosen, and play on Ian Hunter's newest
album! Last, but not least, the Boys did a X-mas album and some singles
as the Yobs (get it?), which are very hard to find now, although
someone told me the Yobs one is on CD, as are the Boys LPs though I
haven't seen 'em.

Off topic for a sec (but then again we're all music fans, aren't we?) I had
ordered an Australian CD which was a tribute to the Plimsouls. However, the
mail order house was out of stock and does not expect to get any more. Has
anyone seen this in a bin or on a list? I'd appreciate any leads.

Thanks!!

Bill, you were asking about the Pilmsouls tribute CD.
I guess you mean "It's Just A Matter of Time" on Zero Hour Records ?
I picked one up about a year ago here in New Zealand in a bargain bin.
Have not seen any others.
But one place you could try getting it is through a mail-order outfit in
Australia called House of Wax Records, they do lots of great pop and
garage stuff:

808 Hay Street
Perth, W.A. 6000
Australia
fax (09) 481 0267

Otherwise I'll tape you one.

And speaking of power pop ..does anyone have spare copies of the first
five issues of Yellow Pills ? ...or could even photocopy them ?

Cheers

Tony
