Blair,

Thanks for the organ tips!!!! Now I know what to look for. I heard that
one Salvation Army in the Boston area has old organs sometimes. I also
know people in the antique biz, and one of them is a jazz percussionist
and runs into these things sometimes. He has a Fender Contempo (RED!) in
the basement of his store...he said it needs work, what he doesn't know,
but I just may be able to have it if I'm willing to put the work into it.
Anyone know about these?

FYI, folks in the Boston area. AZ-Tech in Watertown repairs old organs.

Andrea

BTW, Blair, my 233 was FREE and the amp was $35! (originally priced $200
and the guy must've thought Tracy or me cute b/c he talked HIMSELF down
to $35!)

Hi Andrea!

Glad to hear you liked the Hate Bombs as they are very good friends of
mine! In fact, Ken (drums/vocals) and Scott (bass/vocals) were the rhythm
section of my band (The Lears) when we first began back in 1990!! They're
all great guys and a really fun band to watch live!! I know they had a
great time playing the Treble fest! BTW the Hate Bombs will be playing a
show in Orlando, Florida with the Fleshtones on (I think) September 27th,
if you happen to be in that area then. The Hate Bombs and The Lears both
appear on the recently released "Young Savage Florida" compilation CD. Both
of our bands have some for sale or you can contact Laura Taylor
(ex-Baskervil) at: <laura@wusf.usf.edu> for copies. I believe everyone is
selling them for $10 including postage in the U.S.

Also, the Mellotron is a very cool sounding keyboard instrument. Check out
any of the band Plasticland's (from Wisconsin) 1980's LP's for great
garage/psych music!!

Welcome to the list!!

Dennis,

Tell the Hate Bombs that their "Monkey Bomb-Shell" says Hello! (they
will know what that means, BELEIVE ME!) We had a great time hanging
out in Denver. In fact, Mick and I became very good friends in those
3-4 days and have spoken a few times since and (wow, run-on sentence
NIGHTMARE!) even have the SAME BIRTHDAY (okay, a year apart). How's
about THAT?

Don't know if I'll be down the end of September, but I spend alot of
time in New Orleans so maybe the Hate Bombs and the Lears can come
by THERE to play this winter?

While on the subject of Mellotrons, Theremins, etc. Does anyone know what
makes that wierd "saw-wobble" noise on 13th Floor Elevators records?

It's Tommy Hall (if I remember correctly) maniacally playing a jug!

......a hookah !!!!! They had a series of hookahs with differnt quantities
of pot in each one of them. They had the pot boiling , making the famous
"bubbling" sound...
