As an FYI: Another cool Sundaze reissue of Minnesota garage rock is the
Gestures. Included is their semi-hit "Run, Run, Run"....the perfect hybrid
of surf and British Invasion. Their originals, especially "Don't Mess
Around", should not be missed.

Oh yeah, these guys are right behind the Knickerbockers for being the
dorkiest looking band of the era.

Mark

PS: Thanks for mentioning the Suicide Commandos. Their first album is
an absolute monster!!!

To tell the truth, I'm working on issue #1 now. I just started! It's some-
thing that's been in the works for a while now. It's call MY TEEN ANGST
HAS A BODY COUNT. It'll probably be alot of tirades on stuff I'm into, I'm
working on an article on my library of 50s and 60s smut novels, a brief "tour
diary" of my weekend following the Smugglers around the Northeast. It'll be
garage/punk and pop, with movies, books and other obsessions thrown in.

HA!! No, I guess it's okay. I hear it's real hard for bands starting out,
becuase there are just so many bands! If a band gets on the right bill, it's
great, but if you put, say, a great garage band on an indie rock bill (I
can't think of any specific names right now but I know I've seen it happen)
the audience can be pretty snotty. Maybe I should give them the benefit of
the doubt and call them "reserved".

THAT SOON!!! I'm sorry I didn't let you take those pictures! I'll try
to get them scanned, but I discovered Phil's scanner is at work and I don't
know where the one here is!

Two questions, one post.

First up, has anyone ever released a compilation of the records on Hideout
Records? Of course I am speaking of Detroit based Hideout label that
released records by Torquays, Pleasure Seekers, Fugitive, the Last Herd and
the like. I know that the label released a singles compilation of their
first six 7"s as "The Best of Hideout" LP1002 but that was limited to 1000
copies back in 6T whatever.

The reason that this topic came up is because I was going through an old
magazine called Record Profile Magazine (RPM) and it included an interview
with label head Dave Leone and a complete Hideout/Punch Records disocgraphy.
The next questions deals directly with RPM Magazine, how many issues came
out? This magazine from the mid-8Ts is probably the best American record
collecting based zine that I have ever seen. I've got five or six issues but
would love to have the complete set. The issue that I've got in front of me
includes the aforementioned Hideout Records article along with articles on
Fats Domino, Tommy James, Moses Asch/Folkways Records, Ollie McLaughlin, The
Real Kids and more.

Michael,

I would like to put in some more about Tim. You did put it into another
perspective for me; thank you for pointing out the "big picture". I still
think that his article was total crap and am not sure where he is coming
from there. I did meet Tim and hung out in his room; I wrote about the
"infamous penis comment" which, yes, was jokingly (I know I didn't clarify
it at the time). I thought, at the time, that he WAS a nice guy; I also
found him to have a great stage presence and was in general funny as hell.
Mick (Hate-Bombs) and I sat on the bed with him for a while shooting the
shit while he massaged Mick's back with his feet...he even gave us some of
the more expensive beer. We left the party early to try to weed it out, as
things looked as though they may get messy and I just did not want to be
involved. I couldn't beleive during Overcoat's set that Tim announced to
about 200 people that there was a party at his room! How could he NOT
expect people to show up? I know people are making him look like a
"big creep" on the bomp list, and he made some of the bands he mentioned
look like "big creeps" in his article. I don't really have a point here,
I guess I don't know what the fuck I'm talking about. Treble Fest was
undoubtedly the #1 event of my year so far as far as fun goes. I'm
totally glad I went and totally glad 360 Twist! put it on. I wish we
could all just get along...

Andrea

P.S. BTW, I will be sending you photos of Element 79 soon and perhaps
some $$$ for posters (if you still have them!) Sorry to look for
posters so late, but money has been tight!
