I read a short article on the Queers in the Boston Phoenix, and Joe
was talking about the falsetto parts and how he really hammed that
up because there were some cute girls in the studio...I personally
found that kinda funny.

Speaking of cool records, anyone get either/both Royal Pendletons
new 7"s? One is on Nobbler (sp?) records in California and is a
split with another band, and the other (brand-spanking-new) one is
a comp with the P-tons, Fortune and Maltese and I think Impala on
King Louie's Splitsville label. I don't have any other info, as I
don't have these myself. If anyone knows what Pendletons songs are
on these, and maybe has the Splitsville address (I know louie just
moved and I don't have his new address), please post!

Andrea

P.S. Thanks for the modslist info...

"Hi Heel Sneakers" was a hit for Tommy Tucker....if I recall.

Actually 12 of the 16 tracks are unreleased (all sides from the Gestures
three singles are included). Those familar with the "Sixites Rebellion"
series will recognize the Zombie-ish "Don't Mess Around" - included on
this compilation.

Dear Blair,
Great to hear from you! I don't want to dwell on legal issues too
much, because that's as far away from the topic of cool music as it can
get. But to clarify what I've written before: ownership rights are very
clear when it comes to copyrighted material. That's why it is called
"copyright"! Simply put: don't take someone else's written material and
reproduce it, in any form, transmitted by any means, without the author's
permission!
This happened with a recent newspaper article of mine -- the
text was copied and transmitted without the permission of the author and
newspaper, (these are the owners). Of course I want people to read it:
the newspaper has it on their commercial on-line service, and that's
where it should be seen on-line.(It was available for "free" for a week,
and is now in their electronic archives.) The longer, more complete
"paper" version is available as a back-issue through the newspaper.
The "misrepresentation" part? Even if someone copied
word-for-word someone else's newspaper article, it still would not be the
entire piece. The correct byline, headlines, captions, photos and layout
would be missing. These are all essential elements in the presentation of
a newspaper, magazine or book piece. They all add up to the final meaning
of the entire piece! If the author wished for the piece to be transmitted
as text-only by someone else, then that's how it would appear originally!
This explanation is not an attack on anyone. I'll gladly let
"by-gones be by-gones" for anything that's gone on before. I just want to
inform readers who might be unaware of these considerations.
And to all readers: I hereby "bury the hatchet" with anyone and
everyone, and appreciate their efforts to do the same. Apology accepted?
Let's get back to the music!

Sincerely,

Timothy Gassen

PS I'm sorry, Blair. My "Knights Of Fuzz" book will be about $35 here in
the U.S. That's the cost of about 3 CDs, but admittedly still a hefty
chunk of change. I wish I had promo copies to give out, but I only
have a handful for my family. Your birthday is coming up? C'mon folks,
lets pitch in and get it as a present for him!

"Shy Heart"!

Maybe when I ever get my band going, we'll cover these songs!

Thanks for the comments! Please pass along my best wishes to both
Todd and Tom. I hope we can talk soon and get to know each other. I think
that's the most important (and sometimes the most difficult) thing -- to
break through the initial impressions you can have of someone and start
to know the actual person.
I'd like to give that a try, and I hope they'll give me a try as
well. (I've always been a Neckbreakers fan, and Telstar is one of the
best labels in the world, that's for sure!)
	Thanks again!

Timothy Gassen

Tim,

Thanks for your reply, even if it was beneath your dignity to address it
directly to me. Your apology is accepted. I must say, though, that I
find your logic flawed regarding the "mis-representation" of your
article. You seem to imply that whenever you so much as quote another
source, you mis-represent it. In a way this is true, but are you
advocating that all quotes and references to other works be banned? I
assume you refer to other sources in your book - by your logic you'd have
to supply copies of these sources to every reader, to avoid
mis-representation! Clearly this is unrealistic. But enough of this.

To the list in general:

OK, onward and upward. About a year ago Michael Greisman of Cicadelic
Records fame told me that the producers of a movie called "Drunks",
starring Faye Dunnaway and Jack Nicholson, had approached him regarding
using some songs by The Human Expression for their soundtrack!
Unfortunately the owner of the rights to the songs wanted too much money,
so the deal fell through. Michael said the producers then decided to use
The Craig's freakbeat masterpiece, "I Must Be Mad", instead! Has anyone
seen this movie? I believe it was shown at one of this year's film
festivals (Sundance?), but it sure hasn't reached Tucson. Hearing "I Must
Be Mad" over a THX SurroundSound system would make my month.
Any info would be greatly appreciated!

I agree about burying the hatchet. We're all adults here, and we're all
on this list not to bicker and point fingers, but to discuss the music
we love. I apologize for any bullshit I have said in the past. Having
an opinion is one thing, but I/we should have tried to confirm what was
being said before getting harsh.

Thanks, Tim. Now that everyone who was involved in this little "discussion"
has said their final piece and buried the hatchet, we can get back to the
music!

Andrea

P.S. i got paid today and realized also that this month's MBTA pass is
also a coupon for HMV Music (which sometimes carries really good stuff),
so thanks to you folks on the bomp list I am armed with all kindsa stuff
to look for! (in addition to the stuff already in my head.)

So, if anyone local wants to go cd shopping this month (Phil???) and wants
to save a little bit of dough (which we ALL like to do), I believe it is
something like 10% off cd priced $9.99 or more (small beans but it all helps).

I'm pleased to announce that the Outsiders' Touch Website is back at:

- -For those of you who don't know me:
The Outsiders (the Dutch ones...) were one of the GREATEST garage/beat bands
ever! This site is meant to pay homage to one of the best and yet most
overlooked bands of the sixties.

- - For those of you who already know me:
As you may already know my old isp went bust (and brought my money with
him!). Since I couldn't afford a new isp + server space I had to wait until
I found an affordable solution. And since nothing is more affordable than
free server space I decided to land on Geocities. I'm not happy to be

will gratefully stick with them.
