Why doesn't anyone come with an original name anymore? I mean, why
would you WANT to have a name that a bunch of other bands, including
ones that actually have released records, have used?

Hey Laura & friends,

Since there's already some bands using variations of "the Graverobberz," how
about "the Cryptones"? Anybody know of a band called that already?

Here in Atlanta there's a speedmetal/amphetamine trash band called the El
Caminos who won't believe me when I tell them about the Japanese band
already using the name. <sigh>

Does anybody know the legality of using a band name? I remember R.E.M. was
challenged way back in 1980 by a northeastern band called Rapid Eye Movement
who asked them to change their name. They dropped the dots and became REM
for a little while, then restored the dots when they started to get a little
success after their indie single came out. BTW, anybody here know if they
ever got a label deal, or whatever became of them? <grin>
