Call yerselfs the New Beatles, or the New Who or the Sons the Grateful
Dead. Piss off the legal departments of these institutions, get sued, get
press....lots of press, whine in a five second snippet on Entertainment
tonight and make money.

It boils down to "Sell The Swindle".

I guess they played the Royal Pendletons eviction party this past March.
Now THAT I would have loved to attend!!! Talk about frat party!

>(lots of beers were drunk/or thrown out into the street),

Yeah, they were pretty sober here because the stupid club only gave the
entire band two pitchers! But I was buying Timmy drinks b/c it was his
birthday, and afterwards at my house I was making Singapore Slings and I
recall him asking for another, and another...so little Timmy MAY have been
a tad drunk.

>John Hentchman had 7 farfisas.

I believe Fred Fortune has at least 5 organs, but not necessarily all
Farfisas. They seem to be fairly abundant there in the midwest (unless,
of course, those bastards snatched them all!). Maybe I should move
there. (brrr!!! maybe NOT!) John was pretty impressed with my Farfisa Amp.

Oh, yeah, the Hentchboys are playing in Oxford, Mississippi this Saturday,
9/21 with the Royal Pendletons, the Hatebombs, the Woggles and I forget
who else..it's one of those mini-garage fests that pops up in the Southeast
all the time and has the same bands. The week after, I heard there is
one on a PIG FARM in Birmingham, Alabama with the Pendletons, Hatebombs,
Woggles, and the Fleshtones. (so the North is represented in both of
these shindigs!) SCOTS may be involved in these, but I'm not sure...If
I were still in New Orleans I'd probably be at these...sigh...although
Birmingham is probably about 8 hours away from NOLA, I think. The South
rules for these things; the bands are so totally into it. It's ALWAYS
the same bands, too. I think maybe the Oblivians and/or Impala are in-
vovled as well...my mind is fuzzy.

Is the Gekkeikan beer bottle? I think It is Japanese Sake name.

In '60s, I know Jaguars in Japan and in Italy.
ps
Please tell me if you know reissue of '60s finnish beat.
I have only reissued LP of Jormas.

I'm in a band that has around 15 names, one for each musical
genre it dabbles in (e.g. The Five Lobsters - doo-wop; Gekkeikan -
speed metal (from a Japanese beer bottle); I Won't Be Walking On Ice
Anyway - gothic; The Linkolas - britpop (for Pentti Linkola,
apocalyptic environmental theorist); Post-Impressionist Slim Blues
Band - blues; Sartre - surf, don't ask why; Hank Wittgenstein &
His Bluegrass Boys - country). We're dreaming of recording a sequel
to the Turtles' pivotal "Battle of the Bands" album.

If anyone else wants band names, I should mention that we have an
ongoing list of bandnames compiled that we send out to people for a
stamp. Some are cool some are totally ridiculous. If you want it, drop
us a line and a stamp to: Alan and Lisa, 1011 Boren Ave., #114,
Seattle, WA 98104. Even Gibby Haynes (Butthole Surfers) wrote for a
copy of our list, and went with the bandname P.

I beleive that Saturday 9/28 is it! (Maybe it's not on a pig farm; that's
what Mick from the Hate Bombs told me and maybe I'm just a dope for
believing him!)

Hey!

I had no idea that the Minstrels were still around! Are they the same
combo with a 12" out on What Wave from a few years ago? Also good to hear
that the Friends of Dean Martin(ez) were cool. They're one of my fave
local (Tucson) acts, and their Sub Pop LP is fun.

Dennis, are you back in Tampa? What's new with the Lears -- any recent
releases? Clue me in, and we'll get caught up!

Sincerely,

Timothy Gassen

        Hitomi sez...

There was a band named Tokyo Beatles in '65 Japan.
They released some flexi disk and disappered with unknown.
We thought they are not cool because of theri foolish name for long,
Anyone didn't care them, so the disk was not reisuued.
But in this year their disk are reissued as CD. And we astonished
to find they are cool !!

There is a 4-song CD by the Tokyo Beatles that's been
imported to the USA. Pretty goofy versions of Beatles
        songs, some sung in Japanese!

One & the same, but these days they live in Vancouver, BC. If you
haven't heard their Ev'ry Which Way disc (Anaba Pacific), it's a must.
