Hi Nancy,

The best place to visit in London is the St Johns Tavern. Most of the UK
garage bands play it (correction ALL of them) and you can find a September
gig listing and some reviews at:

http://idun.unl.ac.uk/~hfa9colemas/western.htm

The next Headcoats/Headcoatees gig is on Thurs 26th September. Look out for
an idiot in a Fleshtones T-Shirt. He occasionaly buys drinks. :-)

Hi Glenn

The 4 Beatles songs CD of Tokyo Beatles is not good. Because in truth
they didn't play temselves at the time. They sung only ,with old styled
studio musicains playing.
I said about one more new CD which was performed by themselves!
(The sound of 1965 solid record CDSOL1031)
In this CD they played
Slow down,Eight days a week,She loves You,Ticket to ride
Don't let me be misunderstood,The last time, Any way you want it
I can't Stop,True love ways,All day and all of the night(this is including
Banzai Freek Beat >comp of Japanese '60s from Australia)
Mrs. Brown you've got a lovely daughter. All in English.
This is something strange ,but I think this is a oldest garage stuff
in Japan.
And more foolish name in Japan,Tokyo Ventures,Crazy Beatles.
in '80s Tokyo Sex pistoles (I think this is a joke)
I don't know these sound at all.

        Hitomi sez...

There was a band named Tokyo Beatles in '65 Japan.
They released some flexi disk and disappered with unknown.
We thought they are not cool because of theri foolish name for long,
Anyone didn't care them, so the disk was not reisuued.
But in this year their disk are reissued as CD. And we astonished
to find they are cool !!

There is a 4-song CD by the Tokyo Beatles that's been
imported to the USA. Pretty goofy versions of Beatles
        songs, some sung in Japanese!

Actually, I heard that the Minstrels are living in Seattle now and play
around here quite a bit....they've moved around alot in their career.
When Greg Watson (14th Wray, Fiends) was in them, they were living in
New Orleans!

When was this? I'm curious because I lived in New Orleans from summer
'93 to spring '95, and have a lot of friends who are from there/live
there now.

"Sway with me"? Perhaps you mean the Ol' Blue Eyes standard "Come Fly

Sorry to take Bomp so far off the track--I mean I realize this isn*t
alt.guitar or anything like that. But hey, there are actual musicians on
this list, and maybe they can help.

I*m the proud first-time owner of a NEW ELECTRIC GUITAR. In order to keep
my costs down, I opted to purchase an inexpensive *gig bag* rather than a
hard shell carrying case. Here*s my problem. I*m leaving town by
airline--and I*d like to take my instrument with me. Friends and
co-workers have suggested placing the gig-bagged instrument into a hanging
garment bag and asking the flight attendants to place this in one of the
on-board compartments. I wouldn*t even think of checking this thing via
regular baggage handling.

Is this a reasonable approach, or should I just leave the instrument home
while I travel. Clearly the guitar is too large to stick under the seat,
and buying another ticket is out of the question.

Feel free to respond to me directly if you prefer. Thanks for any advice
you can provide. You can be sure I=27ll be reading alt.guitar from now =
on.

"Glenn Sadin" <gsadin@mfi.com> delivers the goods:

~ Isn't Gekkeikan a brand of sake?

Yes, it is, but I swear that the particular bottle that was our
inspiration held beer. (We've also been thinking of a manga-style logo
for the record company Gekkeikan would appear courtesy of on our
album.)

dothepop@ix.netcom.com (Lisa Lindstrom) delivers the goods:

~ If anyone else wants band names, I should mention that we have an
~ ongoing list of bandnames compiled that we send out to people for a
~ stamp. Some are cool some are totally ridiculous. If you want it, drop
~ us a line and a stamp to: Alan and Lisa, 1011 Boren Ave., #114,
~ Seattle, WA 98104. Even Gibby Haynes (Butthole Surfers) wrote for a
~ copy of our list, and went with the bandname P.

I should have liked to see them get a contract with K.
