Hmmm..I'm, trying to remember now...I believe the Minstrels (actually,
Les Minstrels is the correct way of using their name, since they are
Francophone after all!) were in New Orleans in the Spring of '92. After
playing with them for three-for months, Greg quit and came back to
Kingston were he played in a couple of other bands before moving to
Vancouver a year or so later. They also did record some songs with him,
but it's never been released. He got fed up with them because, if I
remember correctly, he had problems with their manager. I met their
manager when I started seeing them as far back as 1989, and he was a
real high-roller, fast-talker "get the band famous" kind of guy who
irritated almost everyone I knew.

I have some garage singles in my collection that I've never seen
re-issued, and I'm wondering if any of you know anything about who
     these people are:

     London & the Bridges (Date)
     The Wild Thing (SPQR)
Tino & the Revlons (Dearborn) from Michican?
     The Pebble Episode (J2)
     The Conchords (AGA) from Pennsylvania?

The 4 Beatles songs CD of Tokyo Beatles is not good. Because in
truth they didn't play temselves at the time. They sung only
,with old styled studio musicains playing.

        I suspected this!

I said about one more new CD which was performed by themselves! (The sound of
1965 solid record CDSOL1031)
This is something strange ,but I think this is a oldest garage stuff
in Japan.

I didn't know this! Is this any good? I may buy a copy the
next time I'm in Japan (maybe in January).

I*m the proud first-time owner of a NEW ELECTRIC GUITAR.

        What kind did you buy?

Here*s my problem. I*m leaving town by airline--and I*d like to take my
instrument with me. Friends and co-workers have suggested placing the
gig-bagged instrument into a hanging garment bag and asking the flight
attendants to place this in one of the on-board compartments. I wouldn*t
even think of checking this thing via regular baggage handling.

I can't really offer advice about this, but I would be definately
nervous about bringing a guitar on a plane. I've heard that it's a
good idea to loosen the strings before putting the guitar on the
plane; I think it has something to do with the air pressure or
     something.

this was posted on another list, the writer allowed me to forward it. It
briefly discusses the reissue projects his label is working on... I am not
sure which label he works for, but for some reason I believe it's WEA

To let you all know, at major label headquarters (all indie pretentiousness
stops here), I am working on a Pearls Before Swine Reprise comp. and
an
Electric Prunes comp with never before heard songs from the original
sessions as well as other amazing surprises. After, I am wanting to do
something with our Fugs catalogue and that of The West Coast Pop Art
Experimental Band. We also have some Link Ray crap from EARLY on
when we were still doing single deals.
It takes time, so bear with me.

what do friends do when flying with guitar?

1) put it in a hardshell case and put the fragile sitckers over the handle,
etc so that the airport emplyees can't quickly open it and plunk around on
it. I was told by airline employees that this is a big problem. many people
complain that the guitar was there but pedals, etc get swiped...

2) very important- de-tune the guitar or remove the strings. friends going
to Japan bent the necks on all their guitars and basses due to the
vagaries of high-altitude air pressure. I think this is also a problem with
tube amps, but the amp went by UPS, so whatever...

3) bring it on board and serenade the travellers (worked for the Nun in
Airport) this may work better for bompsters if "The Thing that You Do" is
playing in-flight this Fall.

I would also like to apologise for those horrible postings you received last
week. This new PC runs WIN95 so I thought it would be a good idea to use
Windows Exchange for e-mail. Well you saw the results! Sorry for chewing
up everyones patience and bandwidth. Hopefully this copy of Eudora Light
will sort out the problem.
