The sleeve was designed but not used at the time the Lipstick Killers 45
first came out. Years later, when it was repressed, one distributor printed
up a couple hundred of the sleeves for their own exclusive use. That's the
story as I understand it.

Hope this helps

Hey folks,
I've NEVER done this before, but it looks like something you might be
interested in. This was found in, of all places, The Move list. I'm not
involved in any way, but I think this needs to be spread around. And I
know this has been mentioned on the Bomp list.

Subject: movie stuff

What was the name of the screenwriter of SKIDOO? I met him once at a
writers' seminar. Heavy set, white hair, thick black-framed glasses. Nice
guy, sorta like a better-spoken Bud Melman. Amazing that he'd write such a
warped-out movie.

I interviewed Emilio Estevez on the set of FREEJACK (didn't get to talk to
Mick Jagger there, though, alas) and I can tell you that Martin Sheen's
little squirt is an absolute, total flake. A week later the publicist tried
to set up an interview with Estevez for me AGAIN "because Emilio doesn't
remember talking to you." I gave her a transcript of the interview tape and
when she shpwed it to Estevez he went thermonuclear because he was quoted as
saying the Alex Cox (REPO MAN director) was certifiably insane. (Sorta
like the pot calling the kettle black.) The movie people threatened all
sorts of dire horrible actions against me and my editor if we published any
of the interview, but then Estevez went on ENTERTAINMENT TONIGHT and said to
them essentially the same things he'd told me. So we said f*ckit and the
piece ran in FANGORIA anyway. Never heard anything from the movie company
afterwards, so I guess their threats were idle.

As for Martin Sheen, I dimly recall a pretty good little hot rod/J.D. movie
that was made for TV, in which Sheen drove a chopped rod with flames painted
on it. I think Susan Sarandon played his girlfriend. Anybody got a title,
year, etc. on that one?

Subject: Survey response

1. WHO IS YOUR FAVORITE BEATLE AND WHY? HAS THIS CHANGED WITH
AGE? IF SO, EXPLAIN YOUR ODYSSEY OF THOUGHT...

Ringo, always Ringo. He was cheerful, lovably geeky, had a big
nose (I can relate) and sang lead on "Yellow Submarine"! After
the Beatles broke up, he was the first Beatle to have solo hits,
and with good reason. "It Don't Come Easy" is a great record. All
the other solo Beatles turned into pathetic wimps.

(BTW, I'm surprised no other respondents mentioned Pete, Stu, or
 -- perversely -- Yoko.)

2. WHO IS YOUR FAVORITE MONKEE? THE SAME TWO ABOVE QUESTIONS
 APPLY....

Nesmith, always Nesmith. He was the tall one (I can relate).

3. WHO ARE THE HOTTEST/SEXIST BOMP-RELATED ROCKERS?

Debbie Harry (she did "Little GTO" on Bomp Records). Joan Jett
(even though she's gay). Oddly, I rarely fantasize about rock
chicks -- usually just actresses and models.

4. FASHION: DO YOU HAVE FAVORITE ITEMS OF CLOTHING THAT APPLY
TO THE MUSIC DISCUSSED ON THIS LIST? (do you dress the part?)
WHAT ROCKERS HAVE INFLUENCED YOUR FASHION?

Used to try to dress like Mick Jones, then Paul Weller. These
days it's banded collars and '63-era Stones leather vests.

5. BRAG TO US ABOUT YOUR COLLECTIBLES, MEMORABILIA, RARE
 REKKIDS, ETC.

One of Ringo's drumsticks. A complete set of PLAY GUITAR WITH THE
VENTURES book-and-records signed by Mel Taylor and Nokie Edwards.
Also the Clash's first single "White Riot" signed by all the
original members, and "Pretty Vacant" signed by Johnny, Steve,
and Paul. Oh yeah, and Carl Perkins' scrawl on a Rhino CD3.
Guitar picks and drumsticks from the Ramones, a Ventures guitar
pick, a melted Dick Dale pick, and the pick Paul Burlison used
when he played "The Train Kept A-Rollin'" at Blues Harbor. A copy
of REM's first demo tape with all the postcards still in it, and
three broken REM picks from a 1981 show in Augusta, GA.

6. WHO DO YOU WISH YOU COULD HAVE SEEN FROM THE 1950S, 1960S; AND
70'S, WHO YOU COULDN'T NOW POSSIBLY SEE PERFORM LIVE?

1950's: Eddie Cochran, the Johnny Burnette Trio, Elvis
1960's: The Yardbirds (during that one summer when Page & Beck
were both in the band), 13th Floor Elevators, Roy Orbison
1970's: Ramones (with Tommy on drums), Sex Pistols (with Sid on
 bass), Cramps (with Bryan Gregory)

She had come out(I read about this in a book about Women in Rock, which did
spend quite a bit of time on the gay rockers). She was also under 18 at
the time that the Pleasure Seekers were a band. The other band members
were rather attractive as well. You can see now why I said various reasons!

Right now, my fave is former Beatle Pete Best, because I got a CD of
all the Pete best Combo stuff (well, I had a cheapo LP for years) and
it's so great I'm in awe. It's real garagey stuff, all recorded in the
US. The Lyres used to do one of the songs by the PB Combo... I don't
know if Pete has changed with age, although I wouldn't be surprised to
find out he's a little bitter. I saw him on some late night show a few
years ago (letterman?) and he was a little cynical about it all. I
heard he still plays, and I think there's a CD also of his new band's
stuff.

Maybe you mean hot/sexiest? That girl from Amanada Jones seems pretty

reflect all this, I might look like a combination of New Wave, '77
Punk, Retro '60s, Rockabilly and Mod! Oh, I guess I kind of do. I don't
subscribe to any particular style, suffice to say I got in hot water
expressing my views about this on Banan-Truffle, so I'd better keep my
mouth shut. But, I like to wear my leather motorcycle jacket (except
now it's too cold, so it's the Anorack or nothing!), and I am partial
to loud paisley shirts, black turtlenecks, black jeans and hightop
sneakers with the American flag on them.

The other band members were rather attractive as well.

Weren't they all 15 or 16? Many a male friend has nearly
foamed at the mouth at the photo on the back of the "What
A Way to Die" comp!

Mandy and the Girlfriends: What are y'all's opinions on this
SOR-ROCK (that's femme for FRAT-ROCK) band that appeared on
Girls in the Garage??? The vocals seemed to get muddled in
the mix, esp. in "Money", but "Straight Shooter" -- WOW!!!
YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN!!!

And, of course, there is the French girl singing "7 a.m."
(sorry, can't recall her name right now).

A toss-up between John and Murray the K (both obnoxious, but men with
visions) I always liked John (RIP).
(Ringo is my favorite living Beatle...)

> 2. WHO IS YOUR FAVORITE MONKEE? THE SAME TWO ABOVE QUESTIONS APPLY....

Mickey, he was the true punk of the group, singing "Steppin' Stone" and
"Goin' Down." Nesmith always seemed like a bit of a nerd to me.

Can I cite the Clingers as a group? Anybody else but me and Freddy
Fortune see the video of them doing "Gonna Have a Good Time" (Easybeats
song) ca. 1970? Un-fucking-real!!! (A close second: the leader of the
Maneaters in "She-Devils on Wheels," tho the closest she gets to rocking
is riding a hog/and or a member of the "stud line.")

How about my Sinclair Gas Station attendant uniform? (Back girls, back!)

Well I have a few autographs (some found in junk stores on records!),
the coolest of those is a Wayne Cochran Mercury 45 he signed "To a soul
brother," plus signed Tidal Waves, Triumphs ("Draggin Wagon"), Blues
Company, John Lee Hooker, Quests, Question Mark, Rationals, MC5 (Tyner),
Byrds, etc. items.

There have been lots of finds in junk stores of groovy 45s (including
Dovers, Rats, Orange Wedge, Sons of Adam & Haunted), but one of the
best hauls was when I was at the flea market in Ypsilanti at the booth of
the guy with the real bad toupee (like a more flamboyant version of Hank
Snow's). He usually made his dough with dirty magazines behind a curtain
in the back, but had vinyl too. One time he had two 45 caddies of mint
(if slightly water-stained) promo singles from 1967 at 25 cents each. I
bought about 120 of them. The best garagers were:
Twas Brillig--"Dirty Old Man" (Date)
E-Types--"Put the Clock Back on the Wall" (Tower)
Leather Boy--"I'm a Leather Boy" (MGM--two copies)
Mystery Trend--"Johnny Was a Good Boy" (Verve)
Lazy Eggs--"Poor Boys Always Weep" (Enterprise)

1950s: Johnny Burnette & the Rock and Roll Trio, Gene Vincent & his Blue
Caps, Howlin' Wolf and his Orchestra
1960s: Bobby Fuller 4, Sam & Dave, MC5, Velvet Underground, Shangri-Las
1970s: New York Dolls (but I'd rather see the 50s/60s cats way more!)

For me, a '72 Buick Riviera, strange rear windshield and all. Although, I
do recall at the 1972 Auto Show, there was the Silver Arrow, a prototype
with six headlights which I still dig. I was eight and very impressionable.

Here is my list of Iggy/Stooges material that is for sale. Generally, there
is plenty more information available on any listing (stock numbers, dates of
gigs, etc.). Would be happy to supply that if needed. These items will be
