IF SO, EXPLAIN YOUR ODESSEY OF THOUGHT...

Definitely Ringo. It always annoyed me when my father would rubbish his
drumming. Hell they were a r'n'r band not the Modern Jazz Quartet. =20
    =20
     2. WHO IS YOUR FAVORITE MONKEE? THE SAME TWO ABOVE QUESTIONS=20
     APPLY....
    =20
The little one from England. Mum tells me that I was born in the same
hospital ward in Manchester (on Bo Diddley's birthday). Cool combination
or what!
    =20
     3. WHO ARE THE HOTTEST/SEXIST BOMP-RELATED ROCKERS?
    =20
The Monoman when he was wearing all that eye shadow in '78.
    =20
     4. FASHION: DO YOU HAVE FAVORITE ITEMS OF CLOTHING THAT APPLY TO THE=
=20
MUSIC DISCUSSED ON THIS LIST? (do you dress the part?)
    =20
Well I always take a plastic shopping bag when I go to the Wild Boston Room
in order to stuff the odd jumper or jacket. It also comes in handy for
putting the odd loaf of bread or pint of milk if I have to run an errand on
the way there. (The shops are closed after midnight). Steve says "Don't be
a square, buy your groceries on the way to a Headcoats gig".
    =20
WHAT ROCKERS HAVE INFLUENCED YOUR FASHION?(, IF APPLICABLE...)

Check Shirts predominate on our washing line so perhaps the answer to this
one is John Fogerty.

Best junk shop find ever was ten years ago on the Holloway Road, N. London.

 a
pile of Pye Kinks singles including 'You Do Something To Me' in mint

(slight cover wear). Only one regret that day - leaving behind 'Wooly
Bully'. NB All eps had picture bags too.

     6. WHO DO YOU WISH YOU COULD HAVE SEEN FROM THE 1950S:
1960S; AND 70'S, WHO YOU COULDN'T NOW POSSIBLY SEE PERFORM LIVE?
    =20
50s

Elvis, Jerry Lee, Jimmy Reed, Howlin' Wolf, Little Willie John (tons of
Sun, Vee-Jay and Chess artists).

60s

UK : The Action; Creation, Johns Children (pre-Bolan), Yardbirds, Pretty=
 Things
US : Standells, Seeds, Watchband, Prunes, !3th Floor Elevators

70s

Gary Glitter (circa those fab Bell singles), Slade, Sex Pistols, Buzzcocks,
Clash=20

But what the hell there are still plenty of artists feeding from identical
sources as the above. So seek them out and enjoy the nineties.=20

What is that? How is it used and what is it supposed to
mean? I don't think I've ever heard it.

Is it safe to add, "You go, girl!"

We have FINALLY gotten rid of "Peace up" and "Word up",
haven't we?

They were first introduced in mid-1963, according to the nearest

I have an Iggy bootleg, vinyl, dbl lp set of a concert in Paris in the

I also hope this is the year we abandon this whole "politically correct"
thing and instead rely on our own morals, consciences, and instilled
senses of right and wrong, as opposed to what a handful of pundits says
we should and shouldn't do/say. We can enjoy life a bit more, without
hurting anyone. I don't mean we should return to the days where it's
acceptable to use racial or sexist epithets, or treat people inhumanely,
but COME ON! The '90s are so serious...This, btw, comes from a
bleeding-heart, left-leaning-lounge-luving-Laura...

I love you, man(a peeve of many, and I don't think I've ever seen that

You are correct T P, however Squishy is also right about the
lag-time before they were used commonly. As a long-time
subscriber to Mad magazine in the early '60s and one who
frequently mailed away for comics and comic fanzines, it wasn't
until about '66 that all publishers asked for your ZIP code.

The presence of a ZIP code on a record or publication can only
give you a ball-park idea of a date.

I don't know, but I'm guessing it was Upbeat. I got the clip on a
compilation made by a friend and its source is unidentified. It's color,
lipsynched and reminds me of the other Upbeat stuff I've seen.
The clip is from 1970, according to the info written on the tape.
From the clothing and hairstyles, it couldn't be much earlier.

By the way, I didn't mention that the Clingers are 4 super good-lookin'
women who are a late-60s female garage band. They had a few 45s out
apparently, but I don't know much about them. Did Kim Fowley discover
them or something? Definitely look like the types he'd try to get in his
sexist clutches. I think they were (or purported to be) sisters, too.
I don't have all the Girls in the Garage comps, but I don't recall seeing
them on one--if they're not, the version they do of "Gonna Have a Good
Time" ought to be included on a future volume.

Hey, Bomp-Theremin fans,

Seems this is my week to be deluged with Theremins. Everywhere I go, I keep
running into them. First, there was what you all had to say a few days ago.
Then, I happened upon:

http://wfmu.org/Catalog/Sects/theremin.html

And just now I was reading a music article in one of the local (SF)
weeklies, and--by gum--more Theremins! You can read the exact same thing at
their web site:

http://www.sfbg.com/Music/OutLoud/index.html

(I assume it will only be there for this week, though.)

Maybe these will be of interest? If so, glad to be of service!
Only--there's just one thing I was hoping somebody could explain to me --
WHAT'S A THEREMIN??? ;)
