Hi, this morning I realized that I own a great single "Pass Myself" by
a band called Third Eye released on Scarlet Rds, and that I never
knew anything about it. The lead vocals sounds on the pop side (great!),
but the song is really rockin'. The flip-side is a cover of the 13th
Floor E. "May the Circle Remain Unbroken".
For me, it's from the mid-80's and very few of it have been printed...

Does anyone have any infos about it ?

Thanks

Pierre

I'm looking for original albums by the Shakers, Shanes, and Tages. I
have "Best Of" CDs by all of them, and I own the "Break It All" LP by
the Shakers, but I need any other albums by any of these bands. Stereo
is preferred where possible, but I'll accept mono (especially in cases
where there were no stereo issues). I'll pay fair prices for these
items, as I know they're rare and quite pricey. Failing that, if anyone
has these but doesn't want to sell them, I'd certainly be grateful to
anyone who'd tape them for me.

Thanks so much in advance!

This, of course, is the obvious question. While I enjoyed the last reunion (at
GarageRage in Dec., '95), I had to wonder whether they'd actually rehearsed *together.*
They declined to do many songs 'cuz, "That wasn't on the practice tape." I just kept
wondering if all they'd done was to each get a copy of the tape, play along with it,
then show up that night. Of course, considering that Orin Portnoy didn't sign on to
play bass for the gig till about a week or so before the show...

Evidently, this time it's Frank on drums, with Bobby Belfiore & Tony Matura on guitars.
Bass duties will be handled by someone that Bobby's been playing with in another
project of late. (Personally, I wish he'd just get ex-Secret Service guy Jim Gange to
do it, but I guess that's life.)

Maybe they'll do a couple new songs. I liked the one Tony had last time.

Shindig was the good one, with the hippest groups and live

I saw this in the current Entertainment Weekly, of all places. I don't have
it in front of me, but as I recall they reported that Patty Donahue died of
cancer around the beginning of December at the age of 40. Apparently it
wasn't generally known until recently, and though I heard a brief mention of

When you say digitize, are you talking about scanning the index cards, or
entering the data on the cards into a database by hand? I ask because while
it is possible to scan text pages and convert them to editable documents, if
the cards are handwritten or the background color isn't white the results from
this method may not be satisfactory.

Someone said Patty chain-smoked on stage...my word, 40 seems

Freddy,

Records are very durable, and the reasoning behind dilluting the Isopropyl
is that the more you use and the longer it stays on the record do lead to
damage of the vinyl. It may not be that apparent, but the damage is there.
The method you describe may not be the best because it counts on the needle
to dig the dirt particles out of the grooves as the record spins. It's like
one of those lift and shave razors, but the needle doesn't glide over the
surface of the record and pull the dirt away, it digs into the groove f the
record and builds the dirt up along the back of the needle. As the dirt
builds, it pressures the sides of the groove and causes damage, just as a
dull or chipped needle will. Cleaning the record before playing it is much
safer, and again, will improve the life expectancy of your needle. With the
groove of your vinyl dug out, the sound quality is definitely decreased.

WD-40?? Well, don't try this on Halloween or Sound Effects records, the
doors will stop squeaking!! I'd be scared to use it as well. WD-40 is
heavily petroleum based. I bet your records would burn much faster, though.

I don't konw if these guys are american, english(?) or
even french!
The song is a really good power-pop one, the verse is sounding
like Clash backed by the Byrds, while the chorus is aerial,
really pop... a nice find for me ...

Once again does anyone have any infos about it ?
Thanks!

Two of my favorite cars were Ramblers. I had a 1965 American with a
flathead 6 (about the size of a shoebox) That did 0 to 60...well I
don't think it ever made 60. But that didn't matter: the front seat
folded back to make a king-sized mattress so it performed much better
standing still. I installed a Rat Shack tape player that would only
play Hank Williams. It ate everything else.

     The other was a tourqouise 1967 Ambassador with a 343 and a 4-barrel
carb. It would start to shimmy a little at around 80, but once you got
up to 110 or so it was a smooth ride. You could also watch the
gas-gauge needle drop faster than the sweep hand on a stopwatch. Also
had a very space-age interior with bucket seats and lots of chrome. It
was in this car that I first heard the Ramones.

This probably isn't much help but I recall seeing it on a cd a friend of mine
had. It was a euro deal maybe even that complete Yardbirds box set.

As soon as I get back from a day of thriftin', I load up the Maytag
(RIP, Jesse White) with a scoop of Arm & Hammer, about a cup of Clorox
and some medium grit jewelers pumice. Add the vinyl, set the cycle to
"Groovy" and take a nap. Only the strong survive; I make the rest into
     raincoats.

PS: The covers should be _dry cleaned_ only.
PPS: Brian Phillips has the correct method. I've been using it for
     years with only good results.

Rancheros date from the mid-late 1950's (about 1955-1958). Some of them even
made it to Australia. But for real class, what about a 1954 Hudson Super
Wasp (black of course)? Low slung and real fast (Wasps and Hudson's cleaned
up stock car races in the early 50's), with limited steering and braking
ability! Neat!

The post on the Rattles got me to thinking, I don't think I've
ever seen any decent Merseybeat compilations on CD. There were a
whole bunch of great compilations of Liverpool beat music that
came out in the early 80's on Edsel and See for Miles, but ten
years into my slow transition from vinyl to digital, I realize
that there's not a lot of that type of stuff that I've seen on CD.
Does anyone know if there are any good CD compilations or
individual band albums from Merseybeat giants like the Big Three?
