There is a CD out with all the songs from The Banana Splits. If I see my
friend who owns a copy this weekend, I'll try to get some info. I also
borrowed from the same friend a 6 hour video tape of the Banana Splits
marathon on Cartoon Network. The music is incredible! And those Sour Grape
Girls!! I didn't remember their skirts being so short; it's actually kinda
scary!

There's GOT to be a page devoted to the 'Splits.

Which Smoke is this, because there was both a British and an Australian
Smoke. I didn't know there was an American one, also.

There's a Banana Splits retropsective CD out, but I don't know how to
get it. I think it's on Hollywood Sound, which I'm not sure is the same
as Hollywood Records owned by Disney. I saw a review of it in
"Multiball" fazine, which I don't have handy to check the address.
That's surely got some info on it. I do know that Barry White wrote BS
songs, and I think I heard that Glen Campbell played on the sessions.

Not only one, there were two American Smoke !!! The one was the psych-pop
on Sidewalk (a Michael Lloyd production) and the other was a post psych/biker-
hard rock group with two Lps on UNI (ex Nomads, the Houston group on the
3 o'clock merrian webster time compulation, reissued by collectables).

Yorktown Records (Arc Sound Co, Ontario) released a comp. in 1982 simply
titled UGLY DUCKLINGS. The album collects sixties and seventies recordings.
All the material is worthy of repeated listening *not* just the classic
cuts. The sleeve is very easy to spot and features a Disney
characterization of the Ducklings on a red background. Unfortunately the
album is probably long out of print.

Ah, 2 of my faves! Family Tree became Roxy & then my beloved Wackers!
Appletree Theatre had members of Rick "Don't Call Me Ricky" Nelson's
band, with Rick having a guest spot or 2. Their "Sorry State Of Staying
Awake" was regularly played on the wonderful WYBC-FM New Haven in the
60s!

Someone mentioned SF Sorrow by the Pretties, but I always preferred
Parachute. And how about Neon Philharmonic's The Moth Confesses? Or the
2 sidelong suites Esther's Nosejob & Rivmic Melodies that made up Soft
Machine 2?

I almost agree. Squire was almost as lame as Secret Affair, and the only
good thing to come from Biff Bang Pow was Creation Records decision to sign
Ride (and if you're into pure finance, then Oasis too). But the Times and
TV Personalities will always have a close place in my heart.

It's one of the AIP Pebbles. I'm fairly certain that the East Side
Digital series only had four volumes. I'm not sure where the "East Side
Digital" label name came from - maybe Greg will clue us in - but they
were essentially a Greatest Hits of Pebbles package. A few years later
the decision was made to reissue the entire vinyl series on CD, so I'm
sure the vast majority of the ESD tracks will show up on the AIP
releases. Some of these songs have been reissued 4 or 5 times under the
Pebbles banner! Besides the ESD and AIP CDs, and the vinyl originals,
there was a Pebbles box set, a "Great Pebbles" CD for the Japanese
market, and three Best of Pebbles volumes in England.

My 1st real radio experience! Who do you remember from those golden
days? I got an FM transistor radio around my 13th birthday (9/68),
twiddled the dials, heard Greasy Heart by the Airplane, & the dial never
turned for 5 years!!! Fave EVER show was the all night Diversions!
I was invited down as a guest of Tim Powell! I remember that it was
the day that the James taylor LP on Apple arrived. He even let me pick
some tunes - I did a trilogy that I'd often heard back when I lived in
Boston & worshipped Dick Summers' Subway on WBZ - Beatles-Flying ->
Country Joe & The Fish - Chapter 43 -> Ultimate Spinach - Baroque #1
(try it at home!). Also was the 1st time I heard Robert Johnson. went
back a few times, also got me close enough to shop at Cutler's Records!
BTW, do you remember Mitch Kapor doing the 6-8PM slot? Ended up
inventing a little computer program called Lotus. Have talked to one of
the Kevin Mc's from that time via e-mail (can't remember if it was
McKane or McEuen). And does ANYBODY have a tape or at least remember a
'YBC band called A Stately Pleasure Dome - did Night Plane, 7-4-Time For
War & It Could Be So very Easy To be So Very Slightly Insane? Or
Lancelot by Christopher Hawk? Or the original versions of Lady Rain
Again & Early Morning Phantasy by Randy Burns & The Sky Dog band?
HELP!!!!

There was also a reissue of their Yorkville ('67) LP that collected a few
extras that was put out by the owner of the Vinyl Museum (stores in Toronto

80's reissues that are becoming as rare as the original 60's release.
