This is what the 'Encyclopedia of British Beat Groups & Solo Artists of the
Sixties' has to say :

FLEURS DE LYS - Bryn Haworth (guitar, vocals), Pete Sears (guitar), Gordon
Raskell (bass) and Keith Guster (drums) were a popular London club band of
the mid to late sixties. They started off recording for Immediate, for whom
their singles included 'Moondreams' in 1965 (produced by Jimmy Page) and
'Circles' the following year. They later moved to Atlantic, recording 'Stop
Crossing That Bridge' and 'Liar' in 1968 and 1969 respectively. They also
did a little ditty called 'Gong With The Luminous Nose'.

Haworth returned in the mid-seventies as a solo artist on Island, while
Sears went into session work (for Rod Stewart among others) before moving to
San Francisco and joining Jefferson Starship. Other member at various times
were Brian Potter and bassist Phil Sawyer, who joined The Spencer Davis
Group in 1967.

.............. .............. .............. ..............
.............. .............. ..............

The 'Circles' b/w 'So Come On' 45 is on 'The Immediate Alternative' on
Sequel and AIP placed 'Gong With The Luminous Nose' on the first volume of
'Electric Sugar Cube Flashbacks'. The ultra rare 'Chocolate Sout For
Diabetics' series includes 'Circles' on Vol II and 'Mud In Your Eye' on Vol
III. 'Liar' appears on a volume of 'Perfumed Garden' (Psycho) but those
comps are so uneven I sold them years ago. OK so they include 'Grounded'
(the Syn) and 'Security' (Thane Russell), songs which Jeff *Conolloid* now
plays, but there is some dire hippy stuff too.

Over and out from collectors corner...

I have a TERRIBLE book claiming to be a psychedelic encyclopedia called
The Acid Trip:A Complete Guide To Psychedelic Music by Vernon Joynson
(1984 - Babylon Books UK). He also lists "Gordon Raskell" as bassist for
FdL. Raskell is obviously a typo for Haskell, so we see now that not
only did the book steal sources, they even stole errors!

Thanks for the tip, Steve. I was just listening to the first Real Kids
album on Thursday and wondering, "where the hell is John Felice?"
