        Reply to: felice/conolly article

i checked out the article that someone was nice enough to point out from =
the boston phoenix about john felice and jeff conolly. while it's nice =
to see these guys get some recognition almost 20 years later, this article=
just really depressed me. the writer seemed nice enough, but the =
article came across as well-researched rather than written by someone =
really into the great music these guys have made.

even worse, to learn that these guys--who i revere as heroes musically--ar=
e working day jobs and are probably barely getting by really saddens me. =
don't get me wrong, most of my favorite bands work day jobs, and i know =
life's not fair and that the best artists never get the recognition they =
truly deserve. i just get sad when i see people who pour their heart and =
soul into the music they make--and in doing so make some of the greatest =
rock and roll ever--only to have to work jobs they probably hate, have to =
set up their own equipment at their shows (i'm referring to a different =
post now) and as a result have to cut their set short.

joe "then again i live in the same town as roky erikson..." emery
death valley

ps. ironically, as i write this, some dork on mtv (empteevee) named moby =
is covering the great mission of burma (another great boston band) song =
"that's when i reach for my revolver," but for some reason is singing =
"that's when i realize it's over" during the chorus instead of the =
obvious chorus. will someone please reach for their revolver and this =
moron out of his misery!
