Rumour further has it that there will be a KILLER garage fest in Atlanta in
the late summer/fall with some unexpected guests from the past.....

Please post more info as it comes in! Also, what's the latest on the Detroit
fest?

AND Fluff has this "never fail fudge" recipe on the side of the jar which
involves FIVE CUPS of sugar! Whooopie! My kinda stuff!

(Hint to Mark: try spreading the Fluff on top of the peanut butter instead of
directly on the bread! It works!)

I need to buy some more of this stuff! Now I've got a craving!

Who didn't know Fluff was a local product.

If you toast the bread first, the fluff should spread just fine. the warmth of the bread softens the fluff, and then it fuses with the peanut butter on the other slice and mmmmm, mmmmm!

The mighty, mighty Woggles will rock Atlanta tonight (2/27/97) at The Point,
opening for Servotron (the all-robot side project band of Man or Astro-
Man?). And yeah, the Woggles' HQ is still located in Athens on Miegs Street,
same address that's listed on their records and fan club stuff of assorted
vintages.

The Hillbilly Frankenstein connection is fairly obvious, as for the past
several years Jeff Walls has produced all the Woggles records and frequently
guest-stars on several songs during their hometown Athens hometown gigs. I'm
not sure if his Hillbilly tracks on the forthcoming split EP are older demos
or new stuff recorded after HF's hiatus, but I do know that Jeff's been real
busy with composing new Guadalcanal Diary material and their haven't been
any HF shows around here in a while.

So...El Vez was in a band with Alejandro Escovedo? Wow. Woulda liked to have
seen that. I'm glad somebody FINALLY mentioned that Escovedo was also in the
Nuns, as I never much liked anything by True Believers or Rank & File but,
wow, the Nuns RULED!! The Nuns sounded sorta like Debbie Harry & Lou Reed
backed by the Sex Pistols, and the two Nuns albums I own are some of the
smokin'est discs in my whole 4000+ rekkid collection. Stunning stuff. (They
opened for the Pistols at the historic Winterland show, which was the last
gig the Pistols ever played with Sid Vicious.)

El Vez's wild stage act is pretty amazing to watch, but lately it's become
so overwrought with South-of-the-Border politics and fearsomely militant
Latino flag-waving that I, as a non-Hispanic, felt extremely uncomfortable
after about 40 minutes of it, sorta like a Talmudical at a Nuremburg Rally.
Maybe it's because I wasn't drinking that night and was unusually clear
headed. Anyway, I was amazed and impressed by the scope of the show and the
depth of wit in the songs & skits, but couldn't help but feel it was all
aimed at putting one huge joke over at the expense of clueless, Bud Longneck-
sucking gringo buttondowns. Don't think I'll be back.

The big Atlanta Surf Festival is set for June 21. I don't believe that
ANYTHING has actually been signed, but the tentative lineup includes the
Chantays, the Fathoms, Agent Orange, Jon & the Nightriders, Squid Vicious,
the Penetrators, Thee Phantom 5ive, and the Space Cossacks. But before
everybody gets too excited and starts re-routing their vacations, PLEASE be
aware that the ink isn't on the contracts yet. One of the bands even told me
that they've not yet heard a peep about what kinda money they're being
offered, and they're really getting a bit edgy about that.

Speaking of surf, any new recordings for Laika and the Cosmonauts on the
horizon?

That's because you're not using the correct Elvis method. E's
cook from Graceland appeared on Letterman a few years back, and
this is how she did it:

Two slices of Wonder bread. Spread liberally with creamy peanut
butter and Fluff. Slice a bannana the long way and layer slices
          on top. Press together.

In a skillet, melt one whole stick of butter and fry the sandwich
          until golden brown.

When she dumped the sandwich into the butter the crowd let out a
low moan, suddenly realizing that it may not have been the pills
          that killed Elvis.

Letterman declined her offer to sample the delicacy.
