Hey has anyone bought the swingin neckbreakers shake brake! album. I
was thinking of buying that or the new Makers album. Which one should I
buy?
On an other note KSQ's Annihilate This Week rules especially towards
the end when it changes keys - its so f@#ked up! I heard In The Red are
gonna release some new Blacktop songs on a double 7". If anyone doesnt
have I Got A Baad Feelin' About This LP - buy it now!

Yeah, I have both Mysterian albums on CD. Both are bootlegs (of course) on
Merlin and Move labels. The sound is quite good considering the source and
both disc contain the original cover art and liner notes. I suspect we have
the same disc, just different labels.

I have both discs on my Web site with scanned cover art, audio files and
track listings. Check it out and compare it with what you have.

Buy the first Neckbreakers. The Makers are good, even great, but the
Neckbreakers two LPs are more cohesive, provide more listening enjoyment
and I always think that there's just something missing in the Makers stuff
along with *most* of the bands that play in the garage-punk genre. One
band that doesn't fail to impress is the Oblivians--try their latest,
popular favorites...

Are you talking about the Makers LP with the middle finger on the cover?
If so, I'd definitely choose The Swingin' Neckbreakers' album. Of course,
if it was between Shake Break and the first full-length Makers' LP, Howl,
I'd probably recommend the Makers. Even so, the first Neckbreakers' LP
would take the cake. I *would* however, recommend you buy that Makers'
double-7" on SFTRI. I've also heard that their latest double-7" (on
Estrus, I think) is another killer.

"Shake Break" is bloody well worth it--but then again, I found it for $5.99
at a used CD section. Most discriminating fans consider it better than
"Live for Buzz," but I actually prefer that one. I haven't heard the other
disc you asked about, but the singer of that band can't compare to the
Neckbreakers' George Thoroughgood-looking mailman howler.

Care has definitely been put into this package. If you are not too unhappy
with the "import" tag purchase this CD ASAP. The four additional tracks are
fabulous, even if they came out a couple of years after the first album.
'Ain't it a Shame' is just waiting to be covered by someone. A fantastic and
broody ? put down. One thing about the CD, the player on my PC sometimes
rejects it, works fine on the Hi-Fi CD player though. Anyone else had this
problem?

I saw this episode on an Ed Sullivan repeat a few years ago, and loved 'em
too. I always thought they were singing "Brue.. Brue brue shadow...."
Anyway, for those who care, I believe the organ was a Vox Supercontinental.

A while ago there was a thread talking about the varying merits of
Ventures albums, etc. I didn't save any of those posts so I was
wondering if any of you could answer a question: when was the album The
Ventures In Space (BST-8027) originally released? Is it available on CD?
