Last week I bought an Lp from the Insect trust. This LP was released
in the 60's. I think it's great.
Does somebody know if the members of this band are still in the music
business.

Todd mentioned yesterday that this show is happening "across town" on Sunday,
May 4. Do you (or anyone else) have any more details, such as where and who
else is on the bill? Us Beantown folk will probably want to stick around and
see them a week before the other suffering bastards in Boston do!

makers played a 20 minute set in houston on new year's eve '93 and =
started a bar room brawl. made the stupid mistake onstage of making fun =

later produced several of their records). pissed a bunch of people off =
and barely, i mean barely, escaped with their lives. i wasn't at the =

blues) and the makers (at least then) were like a bunch of pissy little =

from what i hear they left in such a hurry they backed their car/van into =
a pole in the parking lot and peeled outta there. they actually drove =
back to austin that night instead of taking a chance on staying in =
houston.

A couple of years ago, a bunch of skinheads showed up at a gig the
Makers were just hanging out at, and they started trouble with the
boys, and basically they got their asses kicked. The bassist is
especially one mean motherfucker when he wants to be. They may be
small, but they knows how to use their collective weight.

Yeah, we're doing a Mo Tucker thing in the next Do The Pop, so a show
review would be cool.

Oh joy! If this does indeed happen, it will be my dream fest come true: the
Pendletons, the Hatebombs, Fortune & Maltese, the Hentchmen, the Woggles, the
'Bald Guys, maybe ? and the Mysterians, bowling, boys, fun, and of course, me!

Is there going to be another "Man or Monoman"?

I heard they are playing at Tramps on 5/11. Where is Tramps? They are
playing in Cambridge, MA on 5/10. There's a web page that has some but not
all tour dates posted, but I'll be darned if I can remember it.

I'm not that familiar with the Neckbreakers material, but the stuff
I've heard by them (admittedly 2 years ago) was pretty generic "heavy rock"
versions of great 60s garage songs. On the other hand, the Makers have
cranked out some incredible originals that truly satisfy my craving for
rave-up 1-4-5 tunes. I guess it's all a matter of taste, but I wouldn't
call the Makers one of those "riff" bands.

According to Vernon Joynson's "Fuzz, Acid and Flowers", the guitarist Bill
Bath and vocalist Nancy Jeffries played in an outfit (called Swamp Lillies),
prior to the Insect Trust, with Holy Modal Rounder's Peter Stampfel. After
the group broke up, saxaphone/clarinetist Bob Palmer became a journalist and
bassist, Trevor Koehler committed suicide.

It appears that none of the band's personnel pursued a career in the music
business.

Thee Headcoats, Makers, & Insomniacs are booked at Tramps on Sunday, March
11th.

By the way, check out the new Insomniacs disc on Estrus, Out Of It. It's a
killer!

By the way, I got all of this information from the Billy Childish home page
and the Makers home page.
Now, regarding this Detroit fest: Man, what poor timing. I kinda wanted to
see the Headcoats in every city in the Midwest, but I wouldn't mind checking
out this fest, either. Can't do both, though... What a dilemma. Are the
Cynics back together? What's the deal? I thought they broke up.

I don't have a research book handy to look this up, but wasn't Insect Trust
the band that music critic Robert Palmer was in before becoming a writer?
