Two months ago, I had these news from Stu khan (Antfarm manager).

"Mick Blood (Lime Spider's singer) is putting together a new band
called The Fram, who now require a powerfull bass player and
drummer based in Sydney. The song style is similar to that of the
Lime Spider's, but some with a more relaxed feel. One song can be
heard (URBAN COWBOY) on a compilation cd called "No Guts
No Glory" on Antfarm Records."

It also seems that the Spiders are getting together again, but i
don't know about the line-up.
It seems they will play for a festival called Offshore at Torquay in
Victoria on Sunday March 30.

Hope it helps.

If this is the station I remember reading about in some trade mag, there's a
little bit more to the story. (Even if it's not, it's still kinda interesting
- -- and how many "All Louie Louie, all the time" stations could there be in

It seems that the previous owner wanted to sell the station, but didn't want
to continue to shell out the bucks to keep it fully functioning while he
shopped for a buyer and the transaction closed. He couldn't just shut it down
because apparently there's some regulation that a station can't be sold if
it's dark. So they went to the Louie Louie format in order to keep the
station running while reducing its expenses! I'd been under the impression
that they'd been running Louie Louie for several months, not just a week,
building up a bit of a cult following (not to mention some free publicity) in
the process. Reportedly they were putting some of the phoned in requests on
the air, coming out of the Kingsmen with a request for the Kingsmen and just
playing it again.

Sounds like the new owners are now in place and they've reverted to
run-of-the-mill radio.

Oldies radio is the modern day equivalent of what the elevator-style
Easy Listening format was in the 70s-80s. The won't play anything
that would make the dentist's receptionist even think about changing
the station. That's the market they program to. When I knew an
oldies programmer, he said they focused on 200 songs with maybe 300
others in very low rotation. Think about it, you probably have 1200
minutes of music programming per day, at 3 1/ 2 minutes per song,
that's 340 songs or so per day. They are playing 60% of their entire
catalog every single day. No wonder you hear Louis Armstrong's "It's
a Wonderful World" so much. (Hey, at least it ain't "Stand By Me.")

Jack Alex, who hosted the local Washignton, DC Teen Dance Show "Wing
Ding" used to be the oldies dj in the morning around here and despite
my requesting this several times, he refused to do a call-in about
Wing Ding memories because "that was a long time ago." They had Bobby
Poe (of Bobby Poe and the Poe Kats (sp?) fame dj-ing once and I
requested a Poe Kats song. He laughed and said all their music was
lousy. There's a reason I quit working in radio, it has nothing to do
with music...

It looks like a lot of clips remain on the website long after the video is

Yes, MTV runs a one-hour "M2 Block" weekdays from 2p-3p. Not sure if it's a
true simulcast or just an hour of videos that you'd usually see on M2, but the
idea is to whet people's appetite for the new service and provoke them into
besieging their local cable operators with requests to add it.

You can also get "Je t'aime..." on one of the three new Gainsbourg comps
that Mercury has just released domestically. It's on "Comic Strip," the

Gainsbourg collection, try "De Gainsbourg a Gainsbarre," which includes
tracks from all his phases, as well as "Je t'aime..."

Somebody does a hilarious version of it in a minor key, complete with
