Here is my list of Iggy/Stooges material that is for sale. Generally, there

i know tony sheridan did a version of "shake it some more" as well as
the jay jays. fairly sure sheridan's predated the jay jays. probably the
"original" version, but not sure if he wrote it or not.

I got this confirmed! Also on this bill is the Scared Stiffs, whom I'm told
are an incompetent garage band with a horror theme. Anyone going? It would
be worth a road trip (mine's about 45 mins) to see this show!

From: g.nicoll@genie.com
Subject: Hillbilly/Guadalcanal Update

Hey, guys, I was offline all day yesterday but here's the scoop:

Hillbilly Frankenstein went on a hiatus about a year and half ago because
the new singer, Bunny Van Dyke (ex-Lava Love), was pregnant and she didn't
wanna deal with a baby and a music career simultaneously. Their farewell
show, at Atlanta's Cotton Club, featured a guest appearance by former
vocalist Formica Dinette as a nurse who helped "deliver" Bunny's "baby" (a
Godzilla model with light-up eyes).

Hillybilly recorded one album, HYPNOTICA, but that was before Bunny joined --
the vocals on the record are all by Formica Dinette, who later quit because
she decided she didn't want to be a professional singer after all. Formica
is still very visible in the local scene, though, usually as a go-go dancer
at Woggles gigs -- sometimes even sharing the stage with Hillbilly headman
Jeff Walls, who produces the Woggles records and ocassionally guests on
guitar during their gigs.

Before they went on hiatus, Hillbilly recorded a whole mess of material --
much of it instrumentals. Jeff's plan -- which seems to have been working --
was to release this stuff slowly, on compilations and EPs, to keep the
Hillbilly Frankenstein name alive until the band was ready to re-form at the
end of their extended vacation. (Hey, it's what Colonel Parker did, right
before Elvis got inducted into the Army!) Hence all the stray tracks that
have been noted here, and the forthcoming split Hillbilly/Woggles 7" from
Solamente.

I ran into John Poe, the Guadalcanal Diary drummer, last night at a party
and he told me that Jeff (aka Flesh Hammer) was currently on a Honeymoon
cruise -- yes, Jeff MARRIED Phyllis (aka Lady Fingers) from Hillbilly
Frankenstein. Note that this is the second time Jeff has married his own
bassist, as he was previously hitched to Rett Crowe of Guadalcanal Diary.

The Diary has been rehearsing every Sunday in Athens, mostly working up all-
new material which John tells me is for the most part hard-fast-loud stuff
on the order of their smarmy classic "Cattle Prod." They're skipping a few
Sundays this month due to Jeff & Phyllis' cruise but will rehearse again in
May and play out during the summer. John hinted that, like Southern Culture
on the Skids, they may do some early shows under fake band names and play
ONLY the new stuff. (If they play as Guadalcanal, they'll have to endure
crowds screaming themselves hoarse for "Watusi Rodeo" through all the new
numbers.)

We were at the Local 506. But the story ends well - they located the legs
for my organ and shipped 'em back to me. I now have (once again) an
un-amputated Vox. And I must compliment the fine fine folks at the Local 506
for putting up with my almost daily "where are my legs?" inquiries. I'm sure
I musta been quite the pain. We'll be back down there again for Sleazefest!

I'm trying to catch a ride for my girlfren' and myself from Boston (ok,
Somerville actually) to Providence to see the Guitar Wolf show tommorrow.
I'd be happy to pay for the gas and tolls and whatnot if anyone can help.
My e-mail access is at work so if you don't think I'll get your message till
after 5:30 today feel free to call me (617-776-1733), leave a message for me
if I'm not there (but duh, you knew that already).

I'd be extraordinarily grateful if someone could make this concert venture
