There are three volumes in the Project Blue series so far. The first
has international beat and garage stuff, with many tracks from old
Soviet-bloc countries. There're a couple excellent cuts (and a few duds) so
pick it up before it's gone. The second volume contains psychedelic acts from
around the world. The Matadors from Czechoslovakia top the list, but you may
have these tracks from the Czech Beat comp. The third volume is all US
garage, but the hiss in the background makes it sound like they just
transferred the tunes from some old cassette, so I can't recommend it.

It's pricey, but a must for Shoes fans. The other cd has rare and unreleased

Hey Gang,

I feel I should be able to find this somewhere else, but I can't seem to. I
need to know about the last couple of releases on the NUGGETS FROM THE
GOLDEN STATE series. Yes, I tried the Ace website but it hasn't been
updated since '96. I have the Hush label CD but I know there's another one
and I need to find out what's on it. Does anyone know? I'm not talking
about the Great Society or the Berkeley EPs or anything like that, this is
a comp of obscure local punk records.

Thanks for any help

Greg

The latest one (other than the live Oxford Circle CD) is the 'What A
Way To Come Down' disc of Golden State Recorders material, much of it
previously unreleased. I believe that both Valley dist. and City Hall
dist. have these. Though he doesn't do any direct mailorder, you can
contact Alec Palao directly at palao@sirius.com for additional info.
Wait'll you hear "Colors" by the Staff! An unbelievable freaked out
psych/garage cut! Karl

"Making Time" is an absolute classic. While it's not my absolute favorite
Creation number, it's definitely in the top five or so. A ton of bands
have covered this one over the years, too... The Full Time Men and The
Original Sins, among others. Powerful as all hell.

I think 60's Beat Italiano is best Italian comp too.
It is released in '89 on vinyl, and Get hip reissued it on CD
with bonus track.
It has good researched linernotes with pix !

Project Blue is released on Italian label.
#1 Trans-world '60s garage
#2 Trans-world '60s psy
#3 us '60s

#1 and #2 include Japanese GS.
They are cool but the sound condition is not so good.

BTW
My web page has English Translation of Italian Beat Resurrection #5 and #6.

Hi Frank thanks for the information.
Unfortunately I don't have original vinyl.
But I have "the Remains" vinyl from Aussie Epic .
I think it is not remixed, but in stereo.
Do you know whether original album was released in Mono only ?

Hi momo
Welcome to be Bompers!
I think "live in Boston" is bad sound quolity, same track can
listen on Sundazed "A session with Remains" in betteer quolity ,
with more songs .

"Diddy Wah Diddy" is also bootleg with poor sound quolity.
So to get Fanclub one is better I think.

Yes, the new CD version of 60's Beat Italiano is on Get Hip. The
original vinyl version was on Direct Hit, Dennis Dalcin of the Lears' label.
There's a ton of recent 60's Eurobeat comps, so I'll just list a few that I
liked and are still available as far as I know. For more details I recommend
you check out the reviews section of the last couple issues of Ugly Things,
as they generally cover all comps like these in depth.

Diggin' For Gold 1-6 (#7 just came out, but it's US garage)

And also check out The Full Time Men's cover of "Making Time" on 1988's Your

And The late-great Godfathers do a great version of "How Does it Feel to Feel"
on their last record, if it's the same song.

Gracias Amigo! Very helpful!!! Also looking for 60's French Beat and early 60's
French pop, Yeah Yeah, and Jazz/Pop vocals if anyone has a lead... Also on the
video front, we came across a 4 volume set of videos on Serge Gainesbourg. We
bought the first Vol. 1958-67. Excellent quality and some unbelievable sets.
This is not a documentary...just a string of clips from TV, I guess, maybe some
'soundie' like promos. All extremely hip, featuring France Gall and a tribute to
BB.
Thanx again
