It's a great set. I would've left off the B-sides and put all of the
first LP on. Except for 'Hey Joe', I prefer the Leaves version.

Some of the later stuff is spotty but I skip over it. 'Willow, Willow'
is great!

Change the 't' in 'sct' to a '5' and then try.

They describe it as 'Strum and Drum'. Which is a good description. I
have also heard it called 'acoustic hardcore' which isn't as good. Go
find a copy of the first LP called 'Strum and Drum'. It is jaw
dropping good. There is nothing I can compare it too that does it
justice.

What a fine time to put in my two cents on my having purchased the Latin
American volume of this new series just this past weekend......it's on a label
called QDK Media, who by the way have a website (www.psychedelic-music.com).
They're based in Germany and what sets their compilations apart from those on
other labels is that much of the material is culled from some of the most
expensive and scarce albums on the collector's market....we're talking albums
worth upwards of $1000 here, that were issued in editions of like 100 copies
or so. In the works for the future is a British compilation, and another one
of Asian psychedelic music that should be groovin'! Anyway, the Latin psych
album is superb, with a great freaky album cover gallery inside the gatefold
and some really good bands. My favorites at the moment are Almendra
(Argentina), Kaleidoscope (Mexico), Los Gatos (Argentina), Ladies W.C.
(Venezuela, I've had their album on tape for a few years now, really great
stuff....anyone know more?), and especially Som Imaginario from Brazil whose
"Super-God" is one of the freakiest, most insane, and CATCHY things I've heard
in ages, all at the same time.

Um, it also shouldn't hurt to mention that, uh, (nudge nudge) LOS DUG DUG'S
have the album's last word with their magnificent "It's Over." I'll try not to
blow my own trumpet too loudly over that fact........ha ha......

I have the cd, Bullseye, A Sixties Retrospective, which I got from
Gee-Dee Music in Germany (Luruper Chaussee 125, Hs. 8a, D-22761 Hamburg,
Germany, email: gee-dee@t-online.de) for $20 ppd. It's on the Fuzz label
and contains 20 tracks:

Apache '65
Slip-Stream
Blue's Theme
The Unknown Rider
Theme From The Unknown
Thunderball
Action On The Street
Sorry 'Bout That
Ghost Riders In The Sky
Devil's Angels
Mind Transferral
Blue's Trip
Another Cycle In Detroit
Cycle-Delic
Born Loser's Theme
Moondawg '65
War Path
High Noon
Angel With A Devil's Heart
Runaway '66

I also saw quite a few copies of this at The Music Exchange in KC, so
it's not impossible to find here in the states... just not sure who
picked up the distribution. Norton, maybe?

Has the Fuzz Fest cd been released yet? Supposedly AVI closed up right
after it was released and was supposed to be coming out on another
label... and Loud, Loose and Savage is also supposed to be re-released
sometime soon.

Subject: Ritualism by Radio Birdman

Could someone tell me the story behind Radio Birdman's album RITUALISM,
which I just picked up a few days ago? I would never have picked it up
under normal circumstances, but I was staying late at work that night to
do some crunch work on a major project for my company and I was very
desperate for a quick fix of garage punk to get me through, and that
particular record was the only Birdman title in stock at the store.

Anyway, not having heard anything other than the RADIOS APPEAR album
before then, I was thrilled to hear a few particular Birdman songs for the
first time, like "Smith and Wesson Blues", "Revelation", and "Aloha
Steve & Danno". However, the whole recording overall struck me as pretty
shoddy, especially when I heard the songs that I already knew from RADIOS
APPEAR. The mix is kind of weak and cheesy and the band themselves don't
sound incredibly tight in some spots.

What's the deal with this record? When was it recorded, and under what
circumstances? Is it a bootleg of studio outtakes, a live recording
session, radio broadcast performances, what? And if I liked the songs
I've mentioned here, what should I be running out to get?
