Yeah, nearby Jackson Michigan had a band with this name! They even cut a
45 (on an acetate only) called "You Can't Nail Me Down," which is a
killer! From the photo I saw, they were very together, with matching
coachmen outfits, cool (expensive looking) gear (one guy with the
McCartney style guitar), etc. Rock on...

I wish I could've! I didn't see this post in time and had no capacity
anyway, but I hope lots of folks caught this - it was excellent. I
couldn't believe she devoted the whole show to Colin! (except for the tag
end that's always a book review or such). I think this 4-cd release is a
must-have....Lola

T. Gross also interviewed Arthur Alexander (wrote "Anna", "You Better
Move On", etc., much covered by early brit groups) soon before his sad
demise on the eve of a comeback tour, and lots other innersting peoples.
She's a little hard to take now and again, but sincere about music.

Greg:

Which mailorder list is this? The last one I got was #128, and
CDs are on sale, but for $9; LPs are on sale for $5.

Is #128 the latest? If not, can you send me the $5 sale list?
I'm a loyal customer, but maybe haven't
gotten the list regularly since you've got my address at work
rather than home. Let's change it to my home address:

Thanks!

Hello, Bompers!

In the interest of keeping everyone informed of the latest goings on
regarding Bolis and the recent troubles on the list, I'm passing on this
excerpt of a message I received this morning from the guy who runs bolis.com:

>I regret to announce that I will soon be shutting down the Bolis

I'll post any updates regarding this situation to the list when I receive
them. In the meantime, I'm thinking of looking into a couple of other
hosting possibilities to run by Greg in case the transition outlined above
doesn't happen. If anyone would like to recommend reliable and inexpensive
list hosts, please feel free to e-mail me off-list.

Evan

I dunno, but if anyone in the EU wants to trade, give us a mail. The post is

Wierdest thing was, last weekend I heard a Link Wray tune as background music on
a programme about architechture around the British Isles. The camara zoomed
out from a stately home, and The Black Widow faded in with two boffins talking
over the top! I don't know, it seems the fall-out from Pulp Fiction is that
instrumental/surf tracks crop up in the strangest places...

Yeah, I can see that - down that road lies madness, so to speak. I just see the
clowning around as symtomatic of an age before behavour patterns crystalise and
cyninicism sets in. Hell, and it's nice to see people having fun.

<< One track of theirs leaked out on a comp called "In the Beginning" (EMI)
which featured William Joel 9that Billy thing is just showbiz!) with his
band doing "Night After Day". It's a bit morose in that "I'm young but
take me seriously, dagnabbit!" vein, but I'd rather that than "The Longest
Time". Other tracks of interest were Jeff Lynne in Idle Race ("Skeleton
Roundabout") Davy Jones (Bowie) and the Lower Third ("You've Got a Habit of
 Leaving").

They showed a film clip of 'The Hassles' doing a song called 'Visions' or
something like that, on a show last year called 'Before they were stars' (?)
The clip which only lasted about 10 seconds was pretty amazing,. and paled
anything off the Hassles LP. Anyone out there know of any clues(45's non-lp)
that maybe came out before the LP? Tony
