True, it was in the Nike ad.
Also "1969" was in another commercial, though I don't recall the product.
Anyone?

Last night the Geargrinders played a show in St.L w/ the Dammit Boys from
S. Illinois. Brady, the guitarist for the Dammit Boys also plays for a
rockabilly outfit, called the Bottletones. Brady showed me his guitar
that Link had signed when the Bottletones opened for him in Champagne a
couple of months ago. He was saying that Link wouldn't sign his guitar
until Brady signed Link's guitar first. That is sooooo fucking cool...
Link is soooooooo fucking coool!

Subject: Sweden / Italy

Are there any Listers in Sweden or Italy? I'm probably going to visit
these countries on a business trip this spring and would like to ask a
few questions. It looks like I will be in a city that's west of
Stockholm (Fagersta) and a city in Italy near Milan.

I hope that CDs and records for the many great Swedish pop bands
(Eggstone, Merrymakers, Wannadies, etc.) have low prices in their own
country!

If anyone else has visited Milan or Stockholm, I'd be interested in
hearing (off-list) your suggestions, must-sees, dos and don'ts. Thanks!

Be seeing you,
Bill

I saw the Demolition Doll Rods open for Guitar Wolf and The Cramps too
and I didn't see anything so great. They had a couple of okay songs but
for the most part I didn't dig it. It looked like the drummer was about
to OD right there on stage.

I'll always be quite happy with the night I was watching the Wonder Years
and heard "No Fun" blasting out of the older daughter's radio at the beach
as she walked away pissed off at her parents.

The same night I heard "Pushin' Too Hard" in a commercial, I believe.

Subject: ? in San Francisco - REVIEW

The show in San Francisco at the Great American Music Hall totally exceeded
my expectations! We were with a friend who worked there, so he took us on a
tour before the show, and along the way past the dressing rooms. I talked to
Robert Balderrama, telling him the rave reviews their shows have gotten by
people on the internet, and he was pretty stoaked. He seemed really happy
about the show, and the tour in general. He said he's been working in a music
store, and fixing amps and stuff, also, jamming with different people. Except
for one noodley intro to a new song (which was actually very good) his
playing, along with everyone elses was true to the sound they helped create.
Frank Rodriguez was playing two ROLAND keyboards, but they sounded really
good, actually. I was surprised.
After the show, ? went to the merch booth to sign autographs. I baught the
new re-recorded cd of their hits, which is great, but maybe just a little too
clean. Still the best thing i've baught all year. I also got a shirt, and a
black and white band photo to get signed, their manager who was a dead ringer
for Simon Stoakes, gave me a free color picture of ? that looks like a bad
family portrait! pretty hilarious. ?, and the rest of the band seemed really
happy, and for guys in their 50's, touring in a small van, playing music they
played 31 years ago, they earned my respect. Everyone from Jello Biafra, to
Ron Lony (Flamin' Groovies), to ex- Trashwomen, to old dead heads, to punkers
were there to pay their respect. Great show.

they play at the Dragonfly in L.A. on the 2nd, then to San Diego, then to New
Mexico.

Their web page said that They are going to be on the daily show on Comedy
Central Monday, Jan 5th..except that the 5th is a thursday...so check monday
AND thursday...I have no idea.

My favorite part was when they ended with 96 tears, and said goodnight, but
instead of leaving the stage and coming back for an encore, ? said "No, we
ain't gonna tease you for that long, baby!" and stayed on stage to play a few
more songs.

heard "There She Goes" by the La's. Not what I expected in a Carl Reiner

Re unexpected coolness....

The Nike ad with "Search and Destroy" played here in Australia too. Apart
from the "Wonder Years" episode mentioned by Blair, I can remember seeing
an episode of "The Single Guy" last year in which one of the characters was
wearing a Didjits t-shirt. Some years ago my local supermarket had Warren
Smith's "Uranium Rock" as part of its piped music, and Australia's
non-commercial TV/radio network, the ABC, sometimes uses the first few bars
of the Tornadoes "Bustin' Surfboards" for station i.d.'s.
