Did anyone happen to catch NPR Friday afternoon? I think it was part of
"The World" on Public Radio International... they featured a lo-fi Irish
garage band called (I think) The Chicks...(?)

Don't miss this show! Not to take anything away from The Omega Men or
Mondo Topless, but those boys from Des Moines (The Bent Scepters) will
steal the show!

The guitarist used to be in Nine Pound Hammer (Crypt), so that should
give you some idea as to what they sound like. I saw Nashville Pussy
over the summer, and it was a great show... especially the
fire-breathing part, and it's definitely trashy, raunchy rock'n'roll,
but the tunes aren't that memorable. Has anyone heard the cd? Worth
picking up?

Just on a general off-topic thing. I notice that one Andy Shernoff
is credited with *the* song in Kindergarten Cop (starring the

Does anyone know if this is *the* Shernoff of Dictators fame?

Iggy may not have sold out his ethics. I don't know if he owns the
rights to the Stooges songs.

David Bowie had to sell something to get to be the richest musician in
England and he did sell off all of his own stuff a couple of years ago.

Yes, Os Mutantes are from Brazil. Their first two records are amazing and
Other Music in New York has been sold out of them for several months. I wish
I'd bought those instead of Brigette Bardot when I had the chance (doh!). I
believe the first two are just self titled, one with a picture of the band
sitting and the other with the band performing. You probably don't want the
later records.
Good Luck,

I always thought it was McCartney: last time I read the rich lists he was worth
about 200 million dollars; and if I remember rightly, Bowie's only at 100 mil or
so.

This is a truly sad night for all of us.......I just heard on the radio a
couple of hours ago that the ever-great Carl Wilson, in my humble opinion the
coolest, coolest member of the Beach Boys, is dead. Brian may have been the
brains behind the Beach Boys, but man, Carl was the fuckin' SOUL. Listen to
that WILD HONEY album tonight, all of you, all the way through, twice, with
lights out and candles burning. And play some of the early albums afterward,
to remind you of just how dynamic and severely underrated a lead guitarist the
guy was.

Just had to come here and pay my respects tonight.....I'm sure all other
BOMPers share with me in this moment of sadness.......
