I notice this sort of thing with a lot of the Crypt re-releases - that there's a
lot of duplication, and to get holda all the tracks you've got to pick up stuff
on both formats. I'm a big fan of 'em and all, but the cynic might think it was
a pretty callous marketing plot. Who know's, maybe it's just Tim Warren's way
of pissing off the hated CD buyers.

Sean.

Subject: State of the List update

Greetings all,

As many of you have seen, we've been continuing to experience serious
message delivery problems on the Bomp list. According to e-mails I
received from Alan at Bolis, the most recent problems are due to name
server problems between Bolis and its ISP. He is hopeful that these
problems will be fixed within the next day or two.

I'm well aware of how frustrating it's been over the last few weeks, and
I'm sure that many people are simply not posting to the list because they
don't know if (or when) their message will reach their fellow Bomp-ers. In
a separate message fom Alan, he said that his goal is to resolve the status
of bolis.com by the end of this month. As I mentioned before, this would
involve another company taking over the lists presently running on Bolis'
server, and possibly the bolis.com domain name as well.

In the meantime, I've been looking into a couple of other possibilities to
have as backups in case Alan is not able to come to terms with another
provider. I may try to test out one of these solutions next week; if
you're interested in volunteering to be part of this test list (perhaps one
might call it sub-bomp), e-mail me and I'll get back to you with the
details sometime in the next few days.

As always, if you have any questions about the list feel free to e-mail me
directly. The Bomp list will certainly continue regardless of what happens
with Bolis, and I'm hopeful that the mail delivery problems will be cleared
up soon.

Evan

Paul Collins has a current solo record called LIVE IN SPAIN that features many
of his hits. It's out on a Spanish label but should be available soon via NYC
based Wagon Wheel Records (where you can also get the Beat records and the
Beat tribute CD).

The first record is an absolute PP classic, one of the best ever.

Was it Peter Tork who was in the 1st National Band, or was it Mike Nesmith?
Never heard of the other two...

It seems that three of my favorite power pop albums came into prominence in
1979, The Romantics first record, The Beat's first, and "Get The Knack" by
the Knack. Some of you might crucify me for liking the Knack, but what the
hell. It's a great record. I do like the first Beat album a lot. Also check
out the Nerves.

P.S. Did anyone get my post about our first show coming up?
