I don't get Kim Fowley 's coomp yet, but Weels is Irish band who
was familiar with Van Morrison 's them.
In United States they were known as Wheel-A-Ways.
Van Morrison write GLORIA for them.

I put on their article on my webpages.

http://www.kiwi-us.com/~hitomi/scrap.htm

If you want to know them and Belfast scene, there is good comp from
BIG BEAT UK called "Bellfast Beat Maritime Blues"

It is my question for long time.
Mike Nesmith formed 1st National Band after he quit
Monkees.
But maybe different band with same name.
Does anyone know about it?

"I can hear the raindrops" and "World For Us" are
Italian boot comp (maybe from same label)
But they include really rare and cool tracks!!
I love them.
But sound quality of "Raindrops" is not so good.

Boots is my fave German beat combo.

Ray Brazen here to tell y'all of the nifty new updates that have just been
posted to EL MUNDO LOCO DE LOS DUG DUG'S, which as I'm sure you know by now is
my shrine to one of Mexico's most awesome psych bands! Check out my reviews of
the reissue CD of their first album and the LOVE, PEACE & POETRY collection of
Latin psych, read about the Avandaro Festival of 1971 (the Mexican Woodstock!)
at which Los Dug Dug's and others appeared, check out the opening of the new
photo gallery (still under construction, but with some nifty pics already up
there nonetheless!), and thrill to the debut of the Dug Dug's animated neon
logo! Lots to thrill you and lots more on the way soon!

So check it out right now!! The world of Los Dug Dug's is bound to get more
and more "loco" as time marches on!

Because you are lending money to Bowie, not buying anything, and
expecting
to be paid interest on your investment.

[herein follows a slight digression into finance, so if you're bored by
this
sort of thing, go to the next message.

And just so I don't get into trouble with the regulators, I am not
a qualified or registered financial advisor, so please ignore everything
I say ;-) ]

If you buy this you are *not* buying a stock or share (which makes you
a part owner), you are simply a lender.

Basically Bowie has created a bond (like a term deposit) which people
put their money into (ie. lend to Bowie) and he pays them back over
the next 5 years.

Or rather, he promises to pay them back, but only out of his royalties
from his back catalog. He is not committing (as far as I know) his
current wealth or royalties from any new songs. Every so often
he pays them interest on the money, and at the end of 5 years he
gives it all back.

To set up this sort of deal Bowie 'lends' the copyright in his
material to a trust company for 5 years (which means the trust
company will get all the royalty payments during that time). The
trust then issues the bonds. By buying one you are lending the
trust your money. The trust then lends the money raised to Bowie.
(This process is called 'securitization' - its very popular in the
financial world these days - makes lots of money for Wall Street
bankers.)

If his back catalog doesn't generate enough money then the lenders
(ie. the people owning the bonds) may not get their money back (or
at least all of the interest they expect). At that point they
might have to take legal action - but probably not against Bowie,
they would attack the trust co. Depending on whether or not
Bowie has made any personal guarantees to back up the bonds, you
could lose your money, or have the joy of suing him.

So why do people do this? Because if you're looking for a
certain guaranteed return (baring default if the world suddenly
stops buying Bowies back catalog), one very good way to get
it is in bonds like this. You can choose from bonds at about
5 1/2% issued by the US Government - which carry no risk - to
something riskier like a bond issued by IBM which might pay
6-7% - to something like Bowie's which is probably very risky
but carries a healthier payout if all goes well.

Shares on the other hand can go down as well as up. Certain
groups of people like pension funds (and my parents who are
retired) favor bonds because they give them a (more or less)
guaranteed income.

James

I just got a German mod 'zine called The Scene which devotes a few
pages to the Mickey Finn. It reveals that there was no actual person by
that name, so I don't think there's any connection with the T. Rex guy.
Mickey Finn & The Blue Men did indeed become The Mickey Finn in early
1965.
There's no mention of any Kim Fowley involvement, though if I remember
correctly Kim did hang out with Shel Talmy for a while around this time.
