I'm sure it's a fine movie that, uh, just had a lousy trailer and
commercials. ("It's not a too-mah!")

Note: I sent the following msg less than a minute before it appeared in
my In Box due to the Pseudo-Bomp list. I'm wondering how long it'll take
before it makes it to normal (Bolis) Bomp.

I'm ashamed to admit that I didn't even *knew* that Gretch made drums
until earlier this month, but perhaps if you went off to
http://www.gretsch.com/ you could find an email address for some support
person who could help you here?

Cheers,

Regarding the posts I've included below-yes, J.D. is a dick. The store
gets great stuff BUT...NOT good prices. He gouges ya! He's a moody and
sleazy guy. I'm not gonna even begin to get into any of the stories I
do know about the fucked up ways he does business. I just want to urge
y'all to avoid the temptation of his great selection and not support the
guy. I've noticed that usually when stuff he has is available elsewhere
it's usually more affordable. I guess Greg Shaw is friends with him.
Okay, whatever. Nevertheless, I fully support Bomp who, much like Micheal
described Norton, like their customers and treat them right. Plus they
offer great selection and more than reasonable prices.

Subject: Re: song research

Okay here goes again: My strange questions about obscure songs. First off
no one responded so far to this description: A song called "Just Like Me"
(not Paul Revere and the Raiders). One version is by the Scorpions
(Holland) on Crypt's Transworld Punk Vol.1. But, I also saw this 60's video
clip of a band featuring two black singers and a white drummer doing this
song surrounded by bunny tailed go go girls. I assume that's the
original. Remember, it starts off with "Mary had a little lamb.." and in
the middle they go "Hey diddle diddle the cat and the fiddle...". Who is
it?!? Don't you know, GREG?

Number two: The song, "Almost There"-There's a version on Garage Punk
Unknowns #8 by The Spirits (from Hawaii) and a version by Try Cerz on
Scum of the Earth. Who did it originally, is it an old blues song or what?
"I've got ten more miles/I'm gonna see my baby"

Answer me damnit!!!

Here's a bit of ? trivia:

In the late 70's or early 80's, ? returned to his central (CA) valley roots
and played pick up gigs around Bakersfield. Not well received. I recall
this readily because several friends played in his band at some point.
Definitely NOT the original lineup since the 60's. One bass player I knew
did several gigs with him; his opinion of the ? attitude was not high, so
he declined further involvement, but only after trying to recruit me for an
audition. Since I had only heard bad things about it, I nixed it. Too Chuck
Berry for me. Can't say I'm sorry.

Unrelated note: anyone hear from Bruce Brink these days?

someone at the show told me that the original drummer now has multiple
sclerosis, although he wanted to be a part of the reunion. the drummer
i saw them with looked to be about 10 years younger than the rest of
the band, so i just assumed this was correct. either way, they rocked
like hell...

You arrive here the 20th? Bummer...Nashville Pussy is taking over the
Crocodile Cafe tomorrow night (19th). Should be a humdinger.

Other than that check http://www.thestranger.com/html/cal.weekly_index.html

That should provide with all the week's goodies. Hope you have a good time.
