Subject: 5 Canadians and Chesterfield Kings

Hi Bompers,
this is my first time on the list...
I have two questions for all the garage-heads out there:
1)the song "Never Alone" by the Five Canadians has been comped? If yes
where can I find it?
2)Who did originally the songs "My Canary Is Yellow" and "You Can't
Catch Me"(not the Chuck Berry song)covered years ago by the Chesterfield
Kings?

Thanks for any reply
Massimo

Big Georgie fan (known George for almost 20 years) - always a kickass show! If
they're ever playing where you're at, be there!

Just wanted to add to the thread about garage radio. I do a radio show in
Oxford, Mississippi called it came from the garage. It is similar to some of
the other shows that post play lists on the Bomp list. Occasionally I post
the play list in here, when I'm not too busy or lazy.
Anyway, the show, It Came from the Garage is on right now at noon on Sundays.
It lasts 2 hours and is on 92.1 FM which is the campus station at the
University of Mississippi. Unlike most college radio stations it is a
commercial station supported by revenue from sales 0f advertising time. It
has about a 35-45 mile radius around Oxford located in North Mississippi just
Southeast of Memphis.
Any questions of comments about the show should be directed to

Ah, it ain't that scary! I actually think it's a lot of fun, and the
tie-in with the radio show works great, too. You can help promote your
own shows that way, play the music, give away tickets, etc. Right now
St. Louis is HUNGRY for this kinda stuff, and we've got a great
developing garage scene here, too, with a new club (Creepy Crawl) and
bands like The Geargrinders, Thee Lordly Serpents, Johnny Magnet, The
Trip Daddys, Ded Bugs, Five Deadly Venoms, Space Age Palmer, and more in
the surrounding Illinois/Missouri region... The Aquavelvets, 13
Frightened Girls, The Cripplers, Dammit Boys, The Romulans, Cretin 66,
Bottletones, etc.

The Donnas, Groovie Ghoulies, PeeChees, and Sit n' Spin are all playing
here soon but we could use some more touring bands so spread the word!

Thanks,
kopper

It's on Flashback (aka Texas Flashbacks) #5, which will probably
by reissued on CD by Music Maniac fairly soon. It's also on the Moxie
Punk EP #1 (and thus is in the Punk EP Box Set), and on a 1967 Canadian
comp, 12 Original Hits.
All four 5 Canadians sides were reissued last year on an EP
which you can probably still find. Alex Taylor put it out, and may
still have a few copies. He's got a very good selection of Canadian
releases for sale. To get a copy of his catalog ("Loose Leaf Review" -
the last issue came with articles on 50's group Bob Davies & the Rhythm
Jesters, 60's punkers The Jury (!), and 70's outfit Arson) write to:

I have it on the Moxie 60's Punk Box of 7" EP's (Vol. 1).

My handy "Children Of Nuggets" reference book also says it was comped on
Flashback Vol 5.

Subject: somebody must know why

Hey!

I found an Italian boot by a band called Khazad-Doom. It's an LP from
1970 called Level 6 1/2. Does anybody know anything about this group.
I figure there has to be a reason why somebody re-released this. It
can't be the music. There is only one good song, the rest is nothing
spectacular.

Thanks!
