Subject: Xian band: The Seeds

A friend emailed me yesterday telling me that he found this web page.

     http://www.enteract.com/~lfront/seeds/index.html

Apparently there's a Christian band calling themselves the Seeds. Somebody
ask Kondrak to pass word along to Sky Saxon, his home town homeboy.
There's a court case I'd like to see.

Yeah, it's originating from Babson College in Wellesley, MA
Also try The Boston Globe on line Living/Arts section for 17

lengthy article on it.

There's also an internet only radio station (it may also be carrier
current) in San Diego. A former Atlantan works there, but I can't for the
life of me remember the URL or call letters. Maybe this should get cross
posted to the regular bomp list, as Tony Sanchez or John "Turner" Chilson
may be able to shed more light on this.

I did post my original message to the regular list as well... of course,
it's anyone's guess as to when it will show up. I got three Bomp messages
overnight, of which two were sent Monday and the third was sent yesterday.

Evan, did the Bolis guy announce any changes? Your message yesterday said that

Nope, nothing yet. And actually he said that he hoped to make the
announcement yesterday after talking to a couple more people. That sounded
sort of like wishful thinking to me. And you're right, I'll certainly post
any updates as soon as I receive them -- but that doesn't mean you can't

Anyway, the scene with "The Party Starts Now" by Manitoba's Wild

Good question.... I just got a message from regular Bomp that I sent
yesterday morning. Though it's a little misleading because messages to
this list only have to be sent to 5 or so people, instead of 120 or so.

I have to say, I'm sorely tempted to just pull the plug on Bolis since this
seems to be working pretty well, albeit with a very light load. The main
thing stopping me is Alan from Bolis' message yesterday that indicated a
decision was imminent.

Probably doesn't hurt to wait another day, except that the crappy Bolis service
has driven a number of regular posters away.

What are the variables in this decision? Server speed and capacity which we've
been testing, sort of. Cost (does Greg Shaw/Bomp pay for service?), space for
archiving (does the host machine also carry the archive?), machine technical
specs (which I guess are related to speed and capacity). If Evan thinks the new
host can handle the load, that's good enough for me. I'm not arguing in favor
of an impulsive decision, but I think the Bolis problems are hurting the list.

I know, and that's what's concerning me the most at this point, and what
would tempt me to makes some kind of switch (here or elsewhere) without
waiting to see what happens with Bolis.

>What are the variables in this decision? Server speed and capacity which
we've

You've pretty much hit on them. I'm glad you mentioned archives - that's
something I'd overlooked. The machine itself seems to be in good shape,
though obviously the turnaround time won't be so snappy when it's sending
mail to 120+ users each time instead of 5.

Cost is also a factor... Bolis was charging what could best be described as
a nominal fee, and I think Bomp was one of their first customers so they
got some kind of "charter" deal. Greg has said that he wants to continue
to keep the cost as low as possible (naturally and understandably); aside
from that he says he'll trust my judgement on where the list should be
hosted, which is a weighty responsiblity to be given by the man Quesion
Mark credits with coining the term "garage rock"!

You're right, of course, which is why I'm eagerly watching my mailbox for
anything from Alan at Bolis! I'm reasonably sure that the list will bounce
back to life once people are confident that their messages are going
somewhere in a timely manner.

That's the two I came up with.

Then on the back of the 'I Am Right' single is a picture of what
appears to be an old street gang with DFFD on a shirt. Maybe they got
DFFD from the picture. Maybe somebody added DFFD to the picture thru
the miracle of Photoshop.

Maybe DFFD is a chord progression.
