I don't know much about him either, and I was fishing for insights from other Bompers. I was surprised to find some decent garage rock cuts on this disc. The Zappaesque tracks are Bad Early Mothers of Invention. The writer of the liner notes makes some hay about Fowley's membership in the Mothers (but I don't remember the particulars). On balance, there's enough of interest that I'm inclined to keep the disc. I don't think it will be to everyone's taste.
