>>Also for labels or bands doing their own CD's (doesn't work for
vinyl),you can use a CD-R as your master and usually save a couple
hundred bucks. You can send a CD-R in as a vinyl master, but since the
actual mastering is different, you still get a "mastering" charge.

CDRs are cool for refference but they still don't have the level and frequency
capabilities as a replicated CD from a glass master. Bands, DON'T use a CDR
for your master. I've found that the best sound comes from taking an ANALOG
master to a pre-house and going straight from analog to 1630 (they look like
those huge Umatic video cassettes). If you can't access an analog master,
going from DAT to 1630 is second best. But for your own good (and for my ears
sake), DON'T MASTER FROM A CDR!!!

Best,

Hi Bompers,
sorry for any mistakes at the spelling..
Last Sunday At AN club in athens there was a garage
concert by the meanie geanies.
There have been changes in the line-up from
tha last gig,
There was a new singer(impressive i might add)
,a new quitar player and a new drummer.
They played mostly covers like "Mr Nobody",
"Melvin","Night of the phantom","No good"
I might say they seem to be better now, more into the
sixties sound and less punk..
that's all,
bye

Help!

I am looking for two single CDs on the French "Magic" label. They are
called something like the "French EP Collection". Where might I find
these for sale?

Is there another collection of their early singles exist? All the
American comps have only the obvious songs that were US hits. :(

Thanx!

Now Blair, what kind of argument is that? If we cared too much about
where things are moving these days, we wouldn't be into the music we're
into on this list, right? :-)

Another thing you can do is to go over to http://www.cast.org/bobby/
which is an online HTML validator that pays extra attention to these
matters. You type in the URL of your page, you click, and you get back
an annotated version of your page pointing out all the bits that might
cause problems with text-to-speech readers or with specific web
browsers. I'm proud to say that all my pages now score the maximum four
stars, although I had to fudge a litte here'n'there to get there. :-)

Cheers,
Sander

I'm currently living in Tuscaloosa, AL. That's pretty deep in the *******
southeast. Lived the last big chunk (pun intended) of my life in
Huntsville, AL., where I was the girl (gasp) bassist for the Sex Clark
Five, who were probably more famous in England than anywhere near home
(having done two Peel Sessions). Now I at least have my guitars set up in
my new home, but not even playing to the couch yet....

What about e-zines ( or web zines, online zines... whatever they're
being called this week). Captain Kirk's been putting together a pretty
swank one called Creep. Is it ready yet, Kirk?

A few things to mention:

First, it seems definite that former lead singer Leighton of the
Gravedigger V and Morlocks has died of an overdose shortly after being
released from prison, where he had been for some time.

Second, I'm wondering if anyone knows whether the Ugly Ducklings album has
ever been reissues on CD. If so, I haven't seen it. Is the album that came
out in '82 still around?

Finally, I feel silly asking such a dumb question, but I'm having a real
hassle using my email program, Eudora Pro, and maybe someone out there can
clue me in. It seems impossible to make an entry in the address book that
will cause a new message to be properly addressed. It puts the "nickname"
in the "to" part of the header, instead of the email address, and it won't
allow email addresses as nicknames (at least, not any using @ and other
common symbols). This seems unbelievable in such a popular program, and the
online help doesn't help at all. Some advice would be welcome.
