From the Delerium Archive:<br>
<br>
This garage-rock quintet from Flint, Michigan is probably most
significant for containing DJ Terry Knapp, who formed, managed and
produced Grand Funk Railroad, which also included Pack members, Don
Brewer and Mark Farner. In the early '60s, Terry was a DJ in Detroit who
played Pretty Things, Them, Zombies, Kinks etc long before anyone in the
'States had picked up on the U.K. bands, introducing The Rolling Stones
on stage at their first New York gig and interviewing them during their
first U.S. tour. <br>
<br>
With the Pack Terry had a few minor hits and their first two albums are
now minor collectables. Prior to becoming Grand Funk Railroad and without
Terry, the group also recorded two 45s as The Pack and The Fabulous Pack.
One of their tracks (<i>I Got News For You</i>) was penned by Dick Wagner
(of <font color=3D"#0000FF"><u>Frost</font></u><font color=3D"#000000">),
whilst <i>Love, Love, Love, Love, Love</i> was covered by
</font><font color=3D"#0000FF"><u>The Music
Explosion</font></u><font color=3D"#000000"> and later in 1973 by
Brownsville Station. <br>
In 1975, Terry left the music business. <br>
<br>
The Count (he looked like Dracula, but is never referred to by that name)
was my father's favorite character as well.&nbsp; Favorite song was sung
by a pig, &quot;I Love Being a Pig&quot;.<br>

Terry Knight produced every Grand Funk Railroad album, I don't know what
happened to the rest of the Pack.

Hi Hitomi,

I hadn't actually heard anything about Alec Palao reissuing Los Shakers,
it's just wishful thinking, knowing that he is a fan and after the Zombies
box he did I can a least dream!

If anyone knows where to get the Los Shakers cd/s reissued in Argentina
please let me know, none of my usual sources have ever listed it (except
for that "worlds biggest mailorder" store in New York run by that rip-off
loser that never has anything in stock and of course they never did come up
with the Los Shakers despite advertising it for about 2 years ..grumble..
mutter....etc etc.....)

So what's Puff Daddy's excuse? The fact that tons of people think this guy is
an "artist" kills me.

Perhaps all "samplers" should have to name their songs after the ones they
were stolen from with a small Roman numeral after it.

Bomp content: great bands suffocate for airplay while bloodsuckers like PD
make millions.

Wow! Guess I'll have to hit Toys 'R' us at the earliest convenience.....either
that or maybe Blockbuster might have a copy or two for rental in its kiddie
section........
I suppose I'll still have to see if the Spanish language version of this (and
the other counting song, the punky one!) might be on any S.S. bootleg albums
out there, ha ha.........

While I'm at it, those of you out there who lost your copies of "Sesame Street
Fever" and think THEY feel distraught over their particular loss, obviously
don't know the pain I'VE felt all these years that have elapsed since I last
saw my copy of the Roosevelt Franklin album.......damn....now there's an
unsung early 70s blues/funk platter for y'all!

Mobbity Moseley forever.......

Subject: Website & chat

No one has commented further, so i went ahead and added a note to the
website advising people that the best times to find fellow Bompers in the
chat room might be: 11:00 AM, 3:00 PM, 7:00
PM, 11:00PM, 2:00AM (all EST). For want of a better scheme, I recommend
trying these times, or arranging amongst yourselves for more private
sessions at other times. I've done my bit, meanwhile.

Also, in my unceasing quest for ways to make the website more vital, I've
decided to offer space to bands or labels who want to promote their own
products. We will provide a like saying something like "recommended
non-Bomp records of the month), and give you a special area, either a page
or a portion of a page, where we will print your copy, or use your HTML (as
you prefer) to talk about any product you think would be of interest to the
Bomp audience. We will also single out these products in a special new
section of the Mailorder area, to draw more attention, and provide links in
both directions. This is a free service to the Bomp community, but to cover
the time it takes to do it, I'm requesting 10 copies of your single, or 5
copies of your LP or CD, for each month you want to be included. Anyone
interested can email me privately.

Cheers,

Greg

Subject: Sea Monkeys/Lone Wolves Saturday!

I'm writing in case there are any other NYC Spazzaholics on the
Bomp list (hi Deena!) that the Sea Monkeys & Lone Wolves are playing
Saturday at Nightingales. I think 4 bands are playing and they should
be third & fourth. The Sea Monkeys, by the way, get my vote for best
LP cover of '97 for their Sea Monkeys vs. Bigfoot lp. The cover is a
hilarious collage of polaroids that cronicles Dave's encounter with
Bigfoot: there's Bigfoot sneaking up on Dave, Dave trying to get a
snapshot of Bigfoot, Dave being chased by Bigfoot......not to mention
the LP is packed with tight, melodic, catchy fun tunes.

Of course in a perfect world I'd also be able to also see Speed
McQueen at the Continental the same night. Don't laugh at or be
misled by the name, they play great power-pop, if maybe just a teensy
bit on the heavy side, but they're great live and don't seem to play
very often (or often enough to suit me anyways).

Hoping to see ya!

Yeah, get the one called "Numbers" (actual title of a 45 of theirs), or
perhaps "How Much More" (both on Lucky 11).
