I have been eyeing those Crypt "Back from the Grave" (if that even is
the right title of those re-issues, it's been a while since I have
seen them)for a little over 3 years now et I am scared to buy them.
What is the quality of those songs? Is it worth it?

My main qualm is this, if it breaks down to having a choice between
Pebbles and "Back" I don't know which one to buy (I know, both sounds
logical but I'm on a tight budget over here! :-) well for a little
while at least)...hence I need help!

Hi there,

I've just got home from the 3rd annual Mudslinger Festival here in Perth,
were I have just witnessed 2 of the greatest live performances I've ever
seen by bands YOU AM I and the DIRTY 3. If you ever get the chance, fucking
make sure you don't miss these guys because tonight I don't think any band
could have topped their performances. My favourite live shows before tonight
were RADIO BIRDMAN a couple of years ago, the STEMS farewell and probably
SONIC YOUTH. YOU AM I and the DIRTY 3 were as equally good.

Other great performances were done by EVEN, BUFFALO TOM and KIM SALMON. It
was a fucking great day!

If you like your 60s punk/garage hard'n'tough, Back From The Grave is
the Must for you! It's 99% killers & great sound quality.
On the other hand, Pebbles have more styles in their grooves. But the
sound quality goes pretty low sometimes and there're a handful of so-so
numbers included. But if you need a little "pop" in your 60s sound,
you'll find it here (you won't find any in the Grave's Grooves).

Hey!

Why not try a couple of each and see which you prefer.

I suggest
Pebbles #5, #8, #10, #14
BFTG #5, #2, #7

And try a couple Teenage Shutdowns.

Or go whole hog and get Nuggets. You can find it under fifty bucks.

I think Best Buy had the Nuggets box for $38, which I think is basically
right at cost! As for Back From The Grave, I like Vol. 8 best, and if
you're looking for those, if you get the cd's I'd go with Parts 1, 2,
and 3. That way you can get most of the good stuff from the vinyl
volumes and it won't break you. The Garage Punk Unknowns stuff is also
very cool, and you can get those on two cd's (Pt. 1 & 2), and yes, I'd
also highly recommend the new Teenage Shutdown comps. The Essential
Pebbles collections are also very good. There are two of those, both
double cd's for the price of one (well, close enough... $16 each).

Midheaven.com is the online distributor for Revolver USA. Just do a
search for teenage shutdown and it'll pull them all up on one page, then
you can select which ones you'd like to buy, add them to your shopping

Subject: The Wayback Machine playlist (1/3/99)

Jaimz was snowed in at his house so it was Kopper flyin' solo, pickin'
up some of the pieces that we forgot or didn't have time to include on
our year-end Best Of '98 special last week. A few requests but overall
(probably due to the snow) it was a pretty dead night. A few new things
included Southern Culture On The Skids, The Coyote Men, The Candy
Snatchers, and a 7" by The Loons that we'd completely misplaced and
finally located. This week also marked the debut of Jeff Hess' Psych-Out

Couldn't find a snailmail address, but did track down their web site:
http://home.earthlink.net/~surfinburd/

You might also try emailing surfinburd@earthlink.net.

Pretty Average? These comps have a bunch of incredible singles that
would cost you a fortune to purchase. What does it take to please
people anymore?
You either like garage or you don't. Seems that some people around
here fall into the latter category!

Neal,

My Australian pal Melinda introduced me to The Someloves while we were in
Japan. Is the Someloves' stuff available on CD?
Thanks,

Allan Waite
