Vegas New Years,
Had a great time, The Loons played a flawless set with Anja (of Diaboliks)
as their bassist. She was brilliant! The highlight was the crowd getting so
involved in the music and forgot all about New Years. New Years ironically
occurred on the last feedback screaming note laid down by the Loons.
The Phantom Surfers came on in TeleTubbies outfits and drove the house
into a frenzy. Their gorilla-suited sidekicks put on a good show of their own
go-going on the pool tables with a topless girl.
We got to DJ till 5 or so and had a blast!
The Coolest-being able to take your drinks outside and not having to stop at
2am.
Biggest drag-the club was a bit too warm
Other cool moments:
Seeing the legendary "Treniers" in the Orleans Casino. Free show and
probably the only Vegas show I'd ever wanna see.

Got to see the locale for the Las Vegas grind show in October. Pretty huge
Casino just a few blocks West of the strip next to Rio's. The Ballroom where
the gigs are gonna be seemed to hold about 400 people but it was hard to tell.
Should be a gas!!

I'll have to agree with these choices..maybe not in that order
though...anyway, Crypt was/is? selling the last batch for 34$ + 4$
postage (that's lp's).

And as far as comps go...the Back From the Graves and Garage Punk
Unkowns are top shelf as is the Teenage Shutdowns...and I'd definitely
go for the BFTG's over the Pebbles...less of the psych stuff which I'm
not a fan of).

While I feel that, content-wise, Back From The Grave is among the best comp
series of all time, the sound quality ISN'T real great if you compare them
to the original 45s. Very flat, and the bass is almost lost on many tracks.
Maybe now that Warren has access to state-of-the-art techno equipment he
might consider "remastering" BFTG. Soundwise, the new Teenage Shutdowns are
a good - albeit tentative - step in the right direction.

Hi! Uh, I know this might be a lame question to ask, but Which
member of the seeds is sky saxon? The skinny long haired guy all the
way to the left on the cover of their self titled album? Or the guy in
the suit-jacket with the shades? Or the guy holding the kitten on the
back of "web of sound"? Well any help would be appreciated!-DAN

Must've been to Francoise because he was the only other black guy there.
Your consolation prize,

Salut
The e-mail for Cha Cha Charming is to Sheila at
plumex@interpost.net. The Pussycats from Spain have a great 45 out, but
the Lp on Hell Yeah (If that's the band you were talking about) is a bit
too lo-fi grunge for me..... Denis

Yeah, the book includes interviews with all kindsa cool garage bands,
including the Mysterians.
It will have a discography of Mike's complete singles collection, which is
one of the best 60's garage collections in the world. As far as I know,
he's just finishing up on some copywrite stuff, and is looking for a publisher.

Two-thirds of the '60s pop group Dino, Desi and Billy. Desi Arnaz Jr. will
re-team with Billy Hinsche for an album dedicated to Dino Martin, who died
in a 1987 plane crash. TV Guide says the CD will include five previously
unreleased songs from the group's early '70s heyday, along with 10 new tunes.

Hope this isn't a repeat of old news, or I'm a Fool,

Hi everyone:
I'm looking for a slew of CD's on tape: all of the Annee's Des 60's volumes
1-5, and also the English version they did.
If anyone has this stuff, I'd appreciate a trade, or I'll pay ya for tapes
and post if necessary.

Thanks,

Glynis
