Squeaky, here are some versions I've heard...
Bobby Fuller, the Chartbusters, Johnny Vallons & the Deejays, Keith
Powell, the Kingsmen, Little Caesar & the Conspirators, Menster Phip,
Paul Revere, Phil & the Frantics, Rocky Graziano (in french!), the
Strangeloves, Team Beats berlin, the Teenbeats...

enough??

and by the way I think the original is by Big Boy Myles not Gary Bonds
(though I'm not sure)

The singer for Doug Flutie's band is Amyl Justian. We've played on a
couple of Keith Bowniece EP's together. He's an excellent guitarist. He
grew up in Detroit and jammed with a bunch of garage bands of the day,
including the Iguanas. Amyl and I are both left-handed, which looked
really cool onstage.

Flutie's band covered an April Wine song. I know that on of their
guitarists had something to do with the Hauned or a Haunted-related
band.

You hit the proverbial right, smack-bang, on the head there Steve.
And what's more, a lot of that stuff has stood the test of time far
better then most of the punk-by-numbers or new wave junk that
came out of the UK around the same time.
And if you don't mind I'm gonna do some flag wavin' for my fave pub
rock combo, the mighty Count Bishops !.
You garage fans should try to get your hands on their 1st EP
'Speedball' from '75. Hands down the finest brit R&B EP (OK, 2nd
only to 'Five By Five'). Recorded with their original singer Mike
Spencer (later in the Canibals) this is the bees knees when it
comes to this kinda stuff...
All 4 of their lps (includin' one live disc) are pretty damn essential
as well and show a hip taste in covers (them, easybeats, standells,
strangeloves, kinks, earl vince & the valiants plus the for this genre
more obvious picks from the chuck berry/willie dixon catalogue),
my fave however is their 4th 'Crosscuts'. Imagine a head on
collision between the Crawdaddys and the Swingin' Neckbreakers
with Captain Beefheart on vocals and your halfway there.
There's 2 cds out by them, but somehow they don't realy do 'em
justice. Most of their lps have been cheapo bin staples for years
however so they shouldn't be too hard to track down.

Be seeing you,

A warning to anyone considering getting their beatle boots via
www.beatleboots.co.uk - they're not a big outfit and are finding it

Not sure if Dawn's original came to Bomp list or only to me personally,
since it had both e-dresses in the To: field and I'm not sure if Dawn's on
the list. However, I figure I'll respond to both places just in case.

That kind of thing scares the hell out of me. Unfortunately, commercial
magazines seem to do this with alarming regularity. Miriam Linna once wrote
a thing on Esquerita for Spin which I'd thought was fair... till she showed
me her original, which was up to her usual FABULOUS standards.

Personally, I thought they were pretty good. Evidently, they spent three
days rehearsing for 8 hours a day just to try and manage again to *be* The
Fuzztones. I think we have to all remember that The Fuzztones always had a
certain personality, something that cannot just be stepped into, but rather
takes a bit of a transformation. It's one of the things I always enjoyed
about them.

Too bad, 'cuz I would've enjoyed seeing that. I believe it'd be a nice
balance to the guys going nuts about girls. And in Rudi's case, it
completely works. I don't think there were any guys in the audience who
could've missed the fact that Rudi still exudes that whole thing and has a
definite hold on the gals. (Example: When Rudi asked for a drink, a certain
longtime Massachusetts 'zine editrix yelled out, "You can drink my
saliva!")

As

As did I. I never liked the Fudge, but I thought it was cool. When they
brought him out, I thought it was going to STINK, but then they said there
were gonna do Psychotic Reaction. The best part, tho', was that Elan and
Vinnie were playing along and then Rudi got his Vox and turned up to 11 and
completely drowned out Elan and Vinnie!

have Bill's money.

The reason it was "scary" to me was seeing someone I knew up on the screen
talking about this whole debacle. You were much more fun in that Mosquitos'
video way back when.

By the way, Dawn, were you the one who had Vern Miller of The Remains as
your high school music teacher?

		Blair

PS If Dawn's msg did *not* come thru to the list and anyone wants to see

Yeah, so I see. This is something I really wouldn't notice, since I rarely
(if ever) read the music mags these days. (I have a hard time paying a
cover price to read mainly about absolute crap.)

It also reminds me of the reason I decided not to make my living by working

I think this shows how the Dutch language has recently, out of the blue,
jumped in value. Those who speak it, are ruling. I'm afraid we, the poor
nederbeat lovers without a clue, can only get down on our knees, raise
our hands to pray or prostrate (don't confuse with prostitute) ourselves
before the mighty Tulip Buddy. I vote that we make him the Bomplist
President and he'll magnanimously translate the liner notes for Q65
Complete Collection and make temporary nederbeat digests from the local
press.

Does everyone agree?

I think the Dutchmen must be inveterate pranksters. The point is that,
if they had issued an English version first they would have sold several
times more. But who would care about the money, not the Dutchmen, I
guess. Paradoxically enough, they seem not to give a damn about their
"dinosaures", so much trasured by the rest of the planet.
I wonder how many Dutchmen met on the street would know the Outsiders,
Q65 or Motions (sure I'm not talking about the freaks like Jeroen)?

In Dutch I guess, huh! I understand you Dutchmen can't stop yourselves

Hello BOMP!ers. Cheers to MJ Quirk, who arrived with hot coffee and the
Legendary Laundry Basket full of vinyl & CDs. You can tell where I was
talking instead of listening by seeing where consecutive tracks were played.
New in the house, tho' I didn't get to air all of it, the Morning Shakes
entire discography and several CDs from Amp records of Canada, among them CDs
by Superman Curl, The Hymen, and the "Back to Rockaway Beach, 1" comp. Coffee
'n' Smokes has been renewed for another 17 weeks. RealAudio is in the house,
but not active. So near, yet so far...

If you're in the NW come on up to Bellingham's fabulous Doublewide Tavern
for a night of out of control rock n' roll action. First up is The Toga
Kings, drunken troublemakers wearing togas and playing traditional NW style
frat n' surf rock. Next up is MuSick Recording Artists The Mystery Action,
the new fuzz/garage band led by Evan Foster of The Boss Martians. I believe
this will be their first live gig EVER! Headlining this tremendous bill is
the legendary Girl Trouble. It's a night not to be missed. So get yer asses
up to Bellingham and get ready to drink a bunch of beer and MOVE!!!
