I think the Chesterfield Kings covered it. It says something about that on
the Pebbles 21 notes, and I have most of their early outpot, but I'd have to
go upstairs to check it out for sure.

While we're at it, which female singer originally did "Family Man", which as
we all know (... and those who don't are better off) was covered by Hall &
Oates.

I read a medical journal report (couldn't find it
online to link to it) when I was working in health
that said that the average US teenager in 1995
consumes 800 more calories daily than the average
US teenager in... 1985! The culprit, this article
said, was the increased size of soft drink
containers. If you collect soda bottles, you know
that in the 1950s the most common size to find now
is the 7 oz size and the other day, at work, mind
you, I had a super big gulp which was like 48 oz-
almost 8x larger.

When the producers made the movie The Doors back
in 1991 they bought all vintage clothes but were
shocked to find than none of today's male stars
had thighs skinny enough to fit into the jeans.
The men, Val Kilmer, etc. And this is in
Hollywood, where one could imagine you'd find some
skinny actors if you were looking.

my vote is definitely for increased food
consumption.

super-size it,

Don

There are a great number of good materials out there, you just have to
get the tailor to order it for you. It may cost a lot more money, but
why pay for tailoring if you're going to cut corners on the fabric? In
my opinion, the most economical option is to find a suit that is a tad
oversized from somewhere else (off the peg or second hand) and have it
taken in where it needs to go in, up where it needs to go up, etc.

Aahh, crud! It was on "Five Miles Out" by Mike Oldfield and the vocalist

What's a "proper" re-issue? Raven Records has been doing this sort of thing
for 15 years, and the Saints have been re-issued to death.

Birdman themselves re-mixed and re-mastered their albums only three years
ago. Most of the lesser-known punk stuff is hard to get the rights to
because so much was independently released, but Murder Punk (vol 1 and 2)
was a US bootleg that isn't hard to get.

Canetoad admittedly do very limited runs of CDs, but in the main the
problem's on the distribution side, not with the lack of product.

The Timelapse (German? Belgian?) from the early 90's did a long version of
"Desdamona".

Nope. But thanks for the Scum/Weird clarification. This is becoming a bit
of an X-file for me, but I'm starting to suspect that perhaps I recently
heard the Shutdown/Wee Four version on a netcast of Psychedelicatessan or
maybe Mimi's show and it made a walloping impact. Still, if anyone knows
of a cover, please let us all know.!

But this doesn't explain the horrible excuse for not having a costumer make
stuff. Instead they scavenged thrift stores for 80's fringed, beaded
t-shirts from Barbados. UHG! The scene where the Doors play in the nighclub
as a garage band is particularly horrid!

If anyone wants a costumer or set designer, my rates are CHEAP!

Yeah and "It's a Cave In" has been re-issued on cd and Vol II is out soon on
Corduroy!. So in total I for one agree - its distribution not lack of
product.

Well that is not exactly true. Corduroy and International Trash distribution
have tried time and again to sell the music in question into
the USA (and every other corner of the globe for that matter). It is not
lack of distribution that is the problem, rather lack of interest in these
niche
products by the larger CD buying market (i'm talking wholesalers and
retailers here) that will almost always relegate it to only a few dedicated
stores.

cheers.

Hello Don, this may be true of the blokes, but I am not convinced about the
chicks. Guys have never had pressure put on them to be thin, unless its for
medical/health reasons.

The diabolical oh, what is her name? (Hugh's wife) wore original Rudi
Gernreich dresses after the end of Ausin Powers and they fit her. Also at
the start of the film I recognised a couple of outfits I am sure were worn
by Barbara Eden in Jeanie, now being worn by extra's.

Well, the Missing Links 45 is probably SOLD out by now, but I hope all 500
of you who need it managed to pick one up; if Mr.Nic at Half A Cow can't
assist, try Get Hip - or goddamn ANYONE. The Links double LP/ CD will be out
as soon as the lazy fellow doing the liners gets his act together; ditto for
the Creatures 4 track reish.
"Pretty Ugly" is distinct from "Ugly Things" - the name was supposed to be a
highly amusing play on words to describe the music, whilst paying homage to
the legendary UT comp. So much for that idea!

Coucou right back at ya, Denis baby!
No Green Hornets this weekend in Toronto, but the Green Hornes. They're
a cool outfit outta Cincinatti, and I've seen them a few times and
really dig them! They're sort of soul-ish R'n'B with some freakbeat
stuff going on. They've got a great single out too, but I can't
remember the label.
A bientot,
Erin

no..not a typo...just a different band. i think they're a "pop-punk"
band from the suburbs. this matter has actually caused some confusion
other places that we've played. namely rockford, where they have also
played a lot. we did hit the fireside..but a little over a month
earlier...not exactly the kinda place we wanna go back to...too many
"skakids" for our tastes(or theirs for that matter)!

Hello Craig,

I think what you said is very true and also that applies to just about every
band that people discuss on this list ie they all only filter into a few
dedicated stores. I mean, I come from Australia and I cant go into HMV and
buy the latest Makers record, right.

But in Europe - different story altogether, what Australian and US
mainstream culture ignores as a 'niche' they adore and lots of Australian
and US bands tour there because they cant tour in their own countries as
satisfactorily and as profitably. Its very sad. I am all for 'homegrown'.
