I have a French ep of Baris Manco. He does a french version of
"Poison Ivy", very popcorn...It's called "Quelle Peste". The other
songs are "Baby Sitter", "Jenny Jenny", "Un autre amour que toi". It's
on Henri Salvador's label Rigolo 18.726. Anyone know of any cool
Turkish femme singers for sale, before "Girls in the Garage" beat me to
it?????....... Denis

You know, I think I *am* going to get an iMac! Just not sure what flavor
to get (although I think I like grape best).

BTW, has anyone with a Mac tried to open the Searchin' For Shakes
database using either ClarisWorks (or, as it's now called, AppleWorks)?
That might work much better since it's a database and not a
spreadsheet... and would save Menachem from having to load a Mac version
of it onto his server.

As usual, I'm a few days behind on reading the digests. For those who
were interested in Playboy Playmate of yore, DeDe Lind, there's a short
article on her in the latest issue of Steve Sullivan's mag, GLAMOR
GIRLS: THEN & NOW #13. It includes some cool pix of her past and present
and believe you me, she's held up right nicely! :)

She's been featured in the mag before so ask if there are any back
issues available. Their website is under construction so check it out in
a few weeks at http://www.ggtan.com/ and you can Email Steve for
ordering info at mailto:stevesul@aol.com

The mag contains some nudity so adult inquiries only, okay kids? :)

This has been a public service announcement!

Has any one bought or heard 'No, No, No' and 'Yeah, Yeah, Yeah' on Arf Arf
Records? These little beauties are now in the shops in London and
retailing for a very attractive price. According to the notes the former
takes the "teen wimp" route and the latter the "teen pissed-off" angle.
Both are well packaged and included a stack of cuts which seem unfamiliar
to me . What's the Bomp opinion on these? Mojo, did you receive *review*
copies before 'Shindig' went to press? If so, what's your personal verdict?

Thanks in advance

Steve,

You won't be sorry if you shell out a few quid for these! Perhaps not
quite as in-your-face clear sound as Teenage Shutdowns, but the material is
mostly all top-notch and the CD time is pretty much maxed out. Excellent
value.

Okay, one question: Who are Zoot Simms and Yves Montand? Do they bring the
coolness factor of this soundtrack down any points? And is "A Quick One
While He's Away" edited down in any way?

And is Mark Mothersbaugh becoming the king of Hollywood film scores? Not
bad for someone from Devo...

Zoot Simms was a jazz fellow. He played tenor sax. I rather like him.
Yves Montand was a vocalist - sort of a Barry Manillow of his day.

Does anyone know anything more about AMC's American Pop?
I visited the website but it's just games and stuff. No info about the
programming.
We saw "Girls On The Beach" tonight, and the identification kept saying it
was a "preview" - is AMC launching an American Pop channel?
