Although it doesn't involve cheating, these remind me of the Louvin
Brothers' 1958 hit Knoxville Girl, wherein the guy is courting a young
woman, everything is seemingly going well, then one day they're walking
along and he suddenly beats her to death for no apparent reason.

Still doesn't come close to the Child Molesters "13 Is My Lucky Number"
which I played on Scene Of The Crime a couple weeks back when Jeff Hess
and I sat in for Jason Rerun. The double 7" on Sympathy credits "the
king bros." for this song. Anyone know who that might be?

That lyric would be considered mysoginistic because it's the underlying
attitude towards women that reflects a certain resentment, hatred, or
otherwise lowered opinion of women in general that causes one to use
such degrading terms. Generally, if someone respects women for being
women they won't use mysoginistic words like that to put someone down.
(Another way they could have put her down would've been to use "North
Shore Shit", for example. Sounds just as bad, but wouldn't be considered
mysoginistic.)

I've seen this sort of argument before... "I'm not a mysoginist! I don't
hate women... just that one bitch!" It's just that you can't take the
dictionary's meaning "hatred of women" so literally. It's a double
standard. Sorta like someone saying they don't hate all black people,
just niggers! So that somehow doesn't make them racist? See my point?

That outta the way, now just let me say that The Devil Dogs are one of
my all-time favorite bands, right up there with The Ramones, New Bomb
Turks, Makers, etc.

Ah, but aren't you in effect still "working for the man" when you cover
his lame music? Doesn't sound fun to me!

Exactly. Same w/me and radio. I tried commercial radio. Had a job on a
classic schlock station spinning Bob Seger, REO Speedwagon and Billy
Joel. I had to get out... it was driving me insane. How could I go on
mic between songs and sound EXCITED about that last Boston track? So now
I'm back working for THE MAN and VOLUNTEERING at a public radio station
playing what I like for free, and I'm much happier.

Well, that sort of person is obviously racist, but that's not the same sort
of statement as what we were talking about before--but other than that, yes,
I do see your point. I've never even heard the song that started all this,
or any other Devil Dogs song for that matter, so I don't really know what
we're talking about, and I don't remember why I said anything in the first
place. Never mind.

I really enjoyed the first two. Vol. 3 is out already?

Also, I just got the new Monsters cd (yes, it's on CD!) from Beat-Man at
Voodoo Rhythm and it's fucking amazing. Get this one at all costs. It's
called "Birds Eat Martians".

This subject made me think of a recent acquisition - Why Do You Treat Me So
Bad by the Knights of Day.

I haven't seen this comped anywhere. Does anybody have any info on the
group. The flipside is Everybody Needs Somebody To Love (it really is this
time, Frank!). It's a Faro Production which puts it in Los Angeles and also
it is released by Tower. The catalogue number puts it after the Standells
Dirty Water and before Sometime Good Guys Don't Wear White.

Which reminds me, the flip to Sometimes... is another cool anti-Valentine
contender, Why Did You Hurt Me.
