Sean is still really big into the garage stuff. From what I've heard, he's
still got tons of old material that was never recorded too. He's got some
"company" called "Christian Vision Publishing" going, but I'm not exactly
sure what that is. He told me that he was working on a Music Machine book,
that was due out this year. The cost was somewhere around 40 bucks, which
is somewhat steep, but it's still very worth getting.

Kyle:

"Talk Talk", Sean Bonniwell's book has been out in a self-published form
for about three years now.
It's quite a strange rambling tale which has some great parts about the
band, but is 85% about Metaphisical stuff (in anything else I've read
Christians call Metaphysics occult, not Christianity!) this could all be
well and dandy, and quite interesting but the guy never pins down WHAT
Metaphysics IS!! The book is HUGE and all the pages are one-sided. Then,
along with the book I was sent, were photocopied inserts of new pages
(which didn't necessarily corespond to the text it was to be inserted in)
and some hand typed one-of-a-kind pages that were just way, way out there.
I'm open to reading all kindsa stuff, but man, I'd like it to all make sense!

I'm interested to see if he's got a better publishing deal for himself and
if he's managed to make the material more focused.

This is the exact same method I use!! A sponge is best, just go around the
platter
in circles, avoiding the lable. Dip your record in the water and then
drain. It's perfect
and gets all the junk out of the grooves.

It's awesome! It was reissued on Get Hip. It's punk with a kinda Clash
influence but the good side of Clash plus some obvious 60s vibes.
There's a 2nd LP which is kinda new wave but haven't been reissued. I

What with the Norton reissues of the old Sonics and Wailers albums, and
with this set that hopefully no one is holding their breath over it's
release, we are getting a nice glimpse into the early Northwest scene. A
satisfactory CD-era comp of the early Northwest sound would be nice,
especially one that focused on the raw & fun sound, rather than giving us
12 variations on "Louie Louie".

Well, whatever you do, DO NOT USE SOAP!!!! I would suggest not immersing
the record in any liquid, try dampening a lint free cloth (although a
little lint is better than a lot of mold) with rubbing alcohol and
rubbing the record in a circular fashion. If no one on the list is an
expert on this, try calling a record specialty shop, I'm sure someone
there would know.
Alcohol may kill the mold, and it also dries quickly leaving no residue.
Water apparently dries slower and will leave calcium deposits in your
grooves. There may be a commercial mildew remover that won't harm your
record, again, an expert would know.
If you do get your records clean, definitely don't store them in the old
sleeves again.

I was taught by a major record collector that dish detergent is OK, as long
as it's mild and mixed right into water (a dab'll do ya!).
I dry my records off with fluffy towels so there is no water remaining and
it doesn't sit there on them.
Never had a problem. Works beautifully. Especially good on records that are
not made of vinyl.

Soap is okay, I find liquid soad applied in small portions on a damp towel is
brilliant to clean up lp covers or glossy EP/Psleeves. Just make sure the
towel is not too wet and don't use a mess of soap, rub on in circular motions
softly. Dirt and grime come right off. (Practice on a cheap sleeve first
before attempting the pricier items)

Record cleaner
     I use distillied water (1/2 gallon)/rubbing alcohol (1/2 gallon)/photo
flo neutralizer(1 cap-ful)/ makes enough for ages. Use the nitty gritty
cleaner as well (this seems like a familiar thread :o) )

I have used soap and water on 78's and heavy duty grunged out grimy discs.
I've had heard about the soap water thing being bad as well, but I never had a
problem with it.
The towel thing that Glynis uses sounds cool, I use cotton swaps only
because my towels leave too much debris on the discs. Guess I need new
towels.. ha! Tony

The Rezillos - yeahhhhh GREAT band - they were one of the combos who made me
wanna play guitar myself, aged as I was at the time about 14. I remember
seeing them on "The Old Grey Whistle Test" (defunct BBC TV weekly
rock-show), introduced by Annie NIghtingale, doing the whole wraparound
shades and go-go dancing thing, singing perfectly crafted songs about flying
saucer attacks and the like. Track down their sole album "Can't Stand The
Rezillos", pop kids, and enjoy. They split in late 78 and mutated into the
Revillos, who IMHO never quite matched up to the original (still good tho).
Guitarist John Callis went on to commercial success in the early-80s
humorless synth-popsters The Human League. And I think singer Eugene
Reynolds had a shop in Edinburgh.

anyway as for Julie Burchill then Private Eye magazine has got it dead right
when they call her "Julie Bullshit".

Ahoy-hoy, kids...my name's Jason, and I'm new 'round these parts. A li'l bit of
info...I'm 21, I live in Portland, Oregon, USA, I have a stupid job that I
hate, I spend way too much money on records and booze, I'm a fan of music of
many sorts, but foremost I'll spare you the details and just let you know that
I like soul, jazz, garage & surf. I am also a denizen of the Modslist.

I will be attending Las Vegas Grind in October, and I will probably also be at
Garage Shock in Bellingham whenever that is, so I'm sure that I'll meet a few
of you at those fine events.

Ta-ta,
jason.

Welcome to the list, Jason. If indeed you really do work at a Future Shop,
you should know that I picked out and purchased my latest stereo speakers
at that store up here in Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada. It was great trying
out different ones while blaring my CD's of the Kaisers' "Wishing Street"
and one of the Nuggets Box set (mono stuff of course) to check out what I
liked best. Ended up with some mid-priced Cerwin-Vegas that really made
the fuzz buzz and the tambourines ring!

Hope you also get to unleash your musical preferences on squaresville every
once in awhile.

Rocky.

No. Angie was the second of Burt's four (so far) wives.

Oh yeah, that's the place. I doubt that my store is as bad as one in Thunder
Bay would be, but it's pretty horrid nonetheless. I try to play music that's as
good as possible, but I've got pretty slim pickin's to choose from. I have been
known to bring stuff in from home, though. Today's a pretty normal day, just
playing Poncho Sanchez, John Coltrane, Unrest, the Interpreters & the Beatles.
It's usually a bit better, though.

I think I got mine through Midnight Records a few years ago. Check out the
web-site to see if they still stock it.

Oh oh...I do this too!. To stop label from getting wet you run the record
