You'll find a translation of the liner notes at Hitomi's Cutie Morning
Moon web site (http://60spunk.m78.com/). This was taken
from the LP, and I can't guarantee the CD has the same liner notes.
Here's the LP track list. Are there only 12 tracks on the CD?

1 Uzi & The Styles Morning Train
2 Churchills Livin' Lovin' Maid
3 Fats & The Thins What Will Be
4 Styles What Happened To You Girl
5 Uzi & The Styles Day & Night
6 Churchills Choral For Young Lovers
7 Churchills She's A Woman
8 Zoar Seven Drums
9 Blue Star I'll Try
10 Styles Down By The Beach

12 New Stars I Can't Ask For Anything

Isn't there some sort of story behind this band, they used to be someone
else, or they became someone else, or something?

Nice version of Still in Love With You, Ride The Wind isn't exactly
essential listening. Maybe if Suzi Jane had turned down the tambourine while
mixing it...Nah.

I don't know right off the bat where to find it, although their singles turn
up on bid/set sale lists frequently. They're never more than $15.00 and
sometimes as cheap as $5.00. I love this group and dig their unique sound
recording. They're lp is amazing.
If anyone has an extra copy of this lp in MONO and wants to part
with it, by all means let me know. I have the stereo but a friend picked up
a mono version at a record fair and the sound difference is amazing. Kinda
like comparing the stereo vs. mono versions of the Everly's "Two Yanks in
London" or "In our Image" lp's.
My fave Kitchen Cinq non-lp track is "When the rainbow disappears" Tony

That's for sure! I kind of dig the stereo mix, though, as the mono has
the vocals more up front, while the guitars seem louder on the stereo. I
might be willing to trade my clean mono copy... tempt me!

> My fave Kitchen Cinq non-lp track is "When the rainbow disappears"

I agree. A great psychy effort. Much of their earlier material seems a
bit stiff to me, but this one really gets it. The Al Kooper-penned flip
"The Street Song" is nice swirly pop, too. Their later Decca 45s are not
as interesting, unfortunately.

According to the Delerium web site, they were originally known as the
"Y'alls" and had a 45 on Ruff (they were from Amarillo, TX). I've never
heard it. Anybody that has - is it any good?

I also have a 45 by the producer of their lp, Suzi Jane Hokum, on MGM. She
covers the Cinq's "You'll Be Sorry Someday" (from the lp) - it is pretty
good and has some cool fuzz guitar. Has this been comped? It would seem
a natural "Girls in the Garage" track.

Subject: First Record/CD Purchases Of The Millennium and some babbling

1999 was a less than stellar year for me for many reasons I won't go
into here, but the lowest point was not being able to afford to go to
any weekenders especially LAS VEGAS GRIND which sounded like it was a
gas. This past December wasn't any treat either as it seems the bad luck
fairy saved the worst for last, with my falling and getting stitches
followed one week later with a minor car accident which ended up
totalling my car of 8 years -- not too happy about that one nor about
selling off some beloved items from my collection to pay for a new used
one!

But seriously, I believe in fate, you cannot change what happens
day-to-day, if something good or bad is going to happen, it happens,
that's life. I'm hoping 2000 will be better, time will tell.

One thing that always does cheer me up is acquiring new discs and I
found some cool CDs in the used section of my local record emporium
today for $6.99 a pop:
BEST OF JOHN KAY & SPARROW
POWER SURF! BEST OF JERRY COLE & HIS SPACEMEN on Sundazed
THE WAILERS: LIVEWIRE on Norton
and the highlight for a mere $7.99:
THE BIRDS: COLLECTOR'S GUIDE TO BIRDS!!!!
I was surprised and excited to find the latter as I've been jonesing for
it since I heard it was out but have been unable to afford a full scale
buying trip into NYC for some time.

On my last trip to the selfsame store, they were clearing out their 45
bins and had about 8 milkcrates full of indie 45s for a buck a pop!
Included in my swag were discs by THE GORGONS on Dionysus, KRONTONG
DEVILS on Hillsdale, HENTCHMEN on Get Hip, FIGG-A-GO-GO on 360 Twist,
ART COLLECTION on Sundazed, THE KINDRED, LYRES, DAILY FLASH EP on
Sundazed, FUZZTONES on Sundazed, EMBROOKS, ROKY ERICKSON, LOVE, THE
INSOMNIACS and more. A very sweet stack of 7 inchers!!!! Woo hoo!

So what have you gotten so far in this new year of 2000??? Any cool
platters, videos, books? Let us all know!!!!

Hoping to be more proactive in Y2K!
