Just to clear things up for folks, "World Without Love" isn't on any of the
Beatles' antholigies. If the fabs made any recordings of it @ all, it
would've been a simple demo. I
have heard John and Paul's demo of "Bad to Me" (often booted), which is
pretty good.

> BTW, just to reconcile the earlier posts, it was written by Paul but
> credited to Lennon/McCartney because they agreed back when they were

For the most part, this is true. In the early stages of the Beatles, they
did collobrate quite
a bit. "She Loves You" and "I Want to Hold Your Hand", for example, were
jointly written
by Paul and John. But after 1963, very few Beatles songs were written
jointly by the two.
Sometimes one would help the other with a song (e.g., John tweaking a few
words of Paul's "Drive My Car"), but it was mostly what Joe pointed out
above: the teenage vow to
be both be credited on all their songs.

Hmm, I don't know if I can explain how it sounds, but
let me tell you this: About five years ago there was a
CD out called "CQ The Complete Polydor Tapes" and it
was a single CD with great tracks and great sound, it
also had the same artwork as the original "CQ
Sessions" LP. Now there is a double CD out that has
alternate takes, but it doesn't have all the same
tracks as the single CD version. In my opinion the 2CD
set is inferior, but it's the only version of CQ
Sessions that is still in print.
I read that when "CQ Sessions" first came out it was
banned in Holland. Is this true? Anybody know why it
was banned?
Does anyone know if I can copy a burnt CD onto my
computer's hard drive and then burn it back onto CD?
(I know that you can't burn from a burnt CD to a CD-R)

What?!? They don't dig girl singers in Harrisburg? Yargh! That's why you
should really
start something up there. Maybe have a band called Lea(n) on me! (Pretty

This 60s dutch music thread is great because I've been debating whether to
buy the Q65 double-CD thread. It's kind of pricey and I was wondering if
you all could give me a sense of what it was like. Is it like the
Outsiders? Harder? Softer? More psychedelic? More covers? R&B-based or
poppy? Any info would be appreciated.

These cats were more hard R&B and fuzz than the Outsiders. Hate Bompbs
(and lotsa other modern bands) have covered "cry in the Night" and the
King's English do an absolutely wicked version of "I Despise You". Get it!

The first Motions LP (self titled) is one of the all-time greats. Not a
single bad track, only one cover version, and most of the tunes are 4-5
star mod-beat killers. It should be reissued immediately on 180 gram
vinyl, but it's not even available on CD, far as I know. The only
Motion's comp seems to be the "Impressions of Wonderful" CD which has way
too much bad later stuff on it. Mebbe there'll be some legit Motions
action this year.

I was put off for years by the stigma of 'Radar Love', but much of the
early Golden Earrings (pre 'Earring') stuff is scathing beat punk too:
'Not To Find', 'Chunk of Steel', 'No Need To Worry', 'Loving Everyday'.
Get the CD of their first album (Just Earrings) for some 'o these, and
there's also a worthwhile comp of their '60s singles (although like the
Motions disc, it degenerates into meandering nonsense halfway through).

I just sold a Billy Childish& Headcoats book/CD on ebay for close to $30!
(Hendrix Was Not The Only Musician) I paid $10 and thought that it sounded
like all the other Headcoats stuff I have.
I like much of the Headcoats stuff, but I think that all you need is
a few Lp's/Cd's from this band since the music is very similar sounding. But
the same can be said about a lot of other cool bands.

This didn't happen as I was busy patcing John's amps together and midnight
snuck
up on all of us. As to the diaper and adult size baby pants that were never
used, they have been packed away in a road case and reserved for Alpo the
next
time he pulls his another such tantrum! :)

Maybe- i really couldn't tell if it was. I'm happy to have the $30.00. I can
use it to buy a 60's 45.

Not too much unfortunately...MAYBE $15 to the right Georgie fan.
But worth it's weight in gold as far as quality...

I can add that there is an inexpensive 2CD compilation available which
contains their first 3 albums + bonus tracks from their 45s from '65-'67. It
has all the superb songs you mention.

In fact all the songs a beat-fan would want to hear of the Earrings are on
the package, because the Earrings seem to have released everything they ever
recorded in the early years, and there are no known outtakes.

The only downsides of the comp are a) the ugly packaging b)the inclusion of
the 3rd album.
