i keep meaning to bring this subject myself. i visit the Cork area quite often,

of dusty old books!

does anyone know of any good places to visit in this area?

I know, I know. It isn't on-line, but BJ's Wholesale here in New England

buy anything on distortions. i've got two of their biet het comps and
their fantastic. the beat is good and the liners are informative. i
recently purchased a l.p. from waterpipe records from whom distortions
licenses most of their stuff it was a psych comp called waterpipes and
dykes and it was really good. the outsiders second album is good hard
psych and it ain't hippie wuss stuff so grab it if you see it. i don't
know anything about the 2 cd set yet havn't gotten around to buying it.
the motions are really iffy. yeah, "for another man" is killer but a lot
of their other sides are really syrupy pop drek. i've been immersing
myself in dutch beat for a while now and am getting set to snag a golden
earring two cd set that has "daddy buy me a girl" and "little chunk of
steel". i know these tracks are killer but is the rest? gonna buy tonight
or tomorrow so maybe someone can let me know. tom.

the easiest to find (and the cheapest) would be the pebbles dutch volumes,
which should cost you between $7.99 and $9.99 in most stores. you could also
order them directly from bomp! (check out their website)...

the cd version (with many bonus cuts!) came out like two months ago. get it!!!

I came close to buying that package because it was so reasonable (something
like $24 for an import double CD in a local shop), but passed because I
already had at least 2/3s of it on various vinyl reissues I've bought over
the years (there's a million of them that came out in the 80s).

That said, I think some of the third album stuff is great pop-psychish
stuff. I especially like a song that I think is called something like
"Magnificent Magistral" (unless this was a non-LP single).

Whether you ultimately agree with me or Jan, this is a great buy for anyone
on this list that doesn't have much Golden Earrings.

I'll also add that Distortions' DUTCH BEAT EXPLOSION is my favorite release
of 1999, and far better than any other Dutch comp I've heard (although
there is some overlap among them).

features what I think is their best song "So High I've Been So Down I Must

Hey, Ari, I'll take the bait and ask the question we're all now dying to hear answered:
What is THE worst place you've ever been?

Hey, I thought Rudi hailed from Dillsburg...at least that's what is says in the liners
of his (mighty fine...really) country CD! Hell, compared to Dillsburg, I would imagine
that Harrisburg is practically Manhattan! And hey....what's all this about Poison and
Kixx? You been watching old tapes of Headbangers' Ball? ! ?

The reason I ask is that we met about 5 people from

that would be

Hey,
There's a pretty funny story in Brian Wilson's "autobiography" about him
meeting Iggy Pop and Alice Cooper. I guess they ended up at Brian Wilson's
place, and he was playing piano and making them sing stupid songs. However,
it was brought to my attention that the autobiography in question was
completely ghost written, so I don't know if there's any truth to the story.
Anybody out there know for sure???

It's looking very much like Tee & Thee Crumpets are going to do a 2 week
tour of Belgium, Holland, Germany and (maybe) Switzerland in May. We're also
hoping to organize one show in London to open the festivities. We have
access to a backline for the entire tour, but we're going to need to somehow
obtain an organ. The promoter is looking as well, but if anyone has a
Farfisa (preferred) or Vox organ that they would like to rent to a poor band
from San Francisco for two weeks, then we would love to hear from you. We
would promise to worship it, adore it, and not spill anything on it.

When Brian Wilson wants you to sing something, you don't ask questions.
Unless you're Mike Love, and who wants to be Mike Love?

I'm pretty sure they were from Harrisburg. I remember talking to Mike
Musmanno (ex-Cool Italians, Misanthropes) when he came to town in the early
90s with a group called The Syn D'Cats or something like that. I'm not sure
if it was him or one of the other guys in his band (which sounded like Mick
Taylor-period Stones, if I remember correctly), but one of 'em told me he'd
been asked to be in Poison, but turned it down.

Dunno if that story's true, but I heard a story that for some reason Iggy
found himself sitting at a bar right next to a very bitchy Tina Louise
(Gilligan's Island) and at one point, obviously having had enough of her
haughty 'tude, whipped out his rather sizeable member, and tapped her on the
shoulder. One look and she went a-running!

Was it Brian Wilson's house that Iggy or Alice had to
leave because their host was just "too fucking

I think it was Poison that Jesus, Astroslut's ex-bass
player, once told me a funny/gross story about:
apparently the lead singer used to do so many drugs
that he would because incontinent and needed to have a
tampon in his butt to keep from crapping himself!

Just another rock and roll urban legend!

Yup, I believe it was Wilson's house that one of the above had to leave
because of Brian's
"weirdness." I've heard that story from several people. Can anyone
corroborate this?

Sounds kind of crappy to me! (Sorrry, I couldn't resist). Hey, I have some
more jokes
while I'm @ it.

Why did Deena go to the dentist? She needed Root-CANALE surgery!

What do Beatles' fans like to eat? Onion Ringos and Lennon Merigune pies!

Here about the dead midget? He was a little stiff!

Okay, enough attempts @ humour for now.
