Shit, me culpa, consider me corrected.....but I don't think either one of you has
skewed taste per se, as I'm not standing in the middle of your maybe or maybe nor
prodigious collection of wonderment or shite.

DUDE, maybe that will catch yer attention, there was no "defending", man, I was
clarifying MY stance on The Byrds, don't get defensive on my ass here. Also, in
case you didn't notice, I pretty much said I agreed with many of your former
opines, so leave off the diss in my direction.

I've seen much more slanderous and murderous talk than that, he didn't seem that
pompous, just maybe irked....... and lookie, like you've been Miss Manners?
LOOK: As I've attacked things on my part several times for this or that, and
could care less what mud was slung, don't bitch at me because I mentioned that
there is a universal law that states, "opinion does not =fact". I don't care if
you dance naked on your roof covered in dung during a full moon shouting how much
The Byrds suck. I consider them essential to a collectors collection. Am I
"right"? No, it's my damn opinion.

whoop?

taking your side and not attacking you.

I found a copy on 8-track at some grocery store I worked at while I was in
college for 2 bucks (and no, I'm not as old as the juxtaposition of the
words "8-track" and "college" may make me sound --it was the early 80s). I
didn't have anything to play it on, so I gave it to someone as a gimmicky
Xmas present. The recipient was well pleased.

No, Blair, you were not dreaming. My boyfriend and I
spotted it too. He pointed it out first. You can see
it briefly, but I haven't really listened closely
enough to the music to tell how much you can hear it.
Not a bad ad campaign, though, considering the
in-joke status of William Shatner's vocal stylings. I
wonder how many people out there really get it...

There definitely was a Larry & the Blue Notes vinyl comp, released around 15
years ago. I only have it on tape, but it includes an alternate version of 'In
& Out'(not as frantic as the released version, but pretty damn hep)as well as
the band's 3 or 4 varitions of 'Night Of The Phantom/Sadist'. There's another
cool unreleased track called 'What Mad Me Lose My Head', wherein the guy
regrets killing his girlfriend in a fit of pique!
I think this LP came out as part two of 'The Fort Worth Teen Scene' series.

Alyssa & Christofer wrote to Justin:

I MEANT THE WRISTBANDS!!!!!!!! NOT BADGES were $65, (if you hadn't figured that out
already.) The Platinum Badge fee now is I believe $630, it goes up every few weeks
until the event. If you wanna do music only, then it's only around $450. We
register early, it's cheaper.

Justin, I'm sorry 'bout that massive misunderstanding, again, I was speaking of the
wristbands for $65,and they only get you in once badges are in and if there is any
room left in the venue. After that, if any more square footage is left, one may pay
at the door. Again, you are welcome to one of my platinum lounge invite cards if I
see you in Austin, just to hang and have a free beer.

There's enough material out there for another 300 quality Teenage Shutdowns
(this would include recycling stuff from other comps), and hundreds more that
probably wouldn't make the grade because they would be deemed too 'wimpy' or
psychy (but still cool to many of us).
As startling proof of the infinite quantity of U.S. '60s garage (and the fact
that EVERYBODY was in at least one band), I received a CD-R just yesterday with
29 tracks of ultra-cool stuff I'd never even heard of before.

The Banana Splits were the Gold Star studios (of LA) session musicians
featuring Barry White on some vocals. I'm sure someone in in the
process of writing the true store of hanna barbera music.

>re: vox organs
As far as looking for a vox compact, I have been open to buy ANY cheap
vox or pre-68 farfisa and I have only once seen the farfisa matador
(doors-type sound) in 10+ years of looking. Personally I think buying
from a music dealer might be smarter, if more expensive, because I've
never seen one around here in 10+ years of looking. I can't actually
playthe piano, so I was always looking to spend under $300, only saw
them in ads and online for $300+.

You can find a fairly complete listing of Neckbreakers covers and the
original artists on the Swingin' Neckbreakers' official website. The

And yes, the Swingin' Neckbreakers now have their own domain! You can

i'll probably get some heat for this one---we've talked about northern soul, blue eyed soul, and dusty springfield etc---just got a new pop release (here's where i inject the "not really bomp related" phrase) today that really harkens back to Dusty in Memphis (which is a truly great disc)---anyway, i've just go to recommend I Am Shelby Lynne---former ten degrees out nashville type singer who sounds like she got whuupped by a soul stick from mussel shoals---well done disc---third time though and people are sticking their head into my office asking "who is that?"---check it out...---okay, back to the bomp diaspora...

Didn't Cale say "Military intelligence isn't what it used to be, but then
neither is human intelligence."

I love the Beagles album, but I don't know anything about the musicians on

might be able to find episodes of The Beagles on video?

No, it was just on the soundtrack (and actually it's "It's Alright Ma...").

Subject: ORGANS

the organs are still out there and i have the proof
in my basement via lucky scores. my first find was a
farfisa compact FAST 2/C (mainly released for the home
organ market, but it still has the 1/4 output jacks
and that classic farfisa tone) found in a junk shop
for $30. the next find was one of those amazingly
heavy farfisa VIP series. (more or less a boat anchor,
but does have a few tones when used for recording) i
paid $125 in a pawn shop. but then i also got a
groovy harmony bass. and finally i stumbled across a
beat up vox jaguar at a thrift store. (too fussy for
live playing but when i first plugged it in through
reverb i finally found that glassy drone heard in
spacemen 3 and spiritualized recordings) the grand
price tag on the vox was $15. i lie to you not. add
that to the optigan organ i found thrifting for $12.
(only one optical disc though. can those things be
scanned or photocopied to clear mylar? or is the
resolution to small?) when i surround myself with
these organs and the other home organs i feel like an
insane herbie hancock. mainly because i usually play
guitar and can only play rudimentary keyboard.
if these thrift scores don't say enough that i have
thrift karma, then also know that a few years back i
found $2000 in a thrifted record.

He's a musician, too--I have a 1975 LP called "NASCAR Goes Country" where he
sings "Six Days on the Road" and "Hey Good Lookin'"--the highlight is
Darrell Waltrip's version of "I Can Help."
